It was a cold but dry mothers day this sunday
Both sides turned up today with the hope they could win for there mums
so in the spirit of the game and day we did allow the away team a dubious try which lead to pilks leaving with a draw
the coach did message and thanked all parents and team for there sporting spirit in todays game

we had six players making their debut for pilks today which was

Roman Smith , Roman did everything i asked of him today he ran forwards with the ball and didnt take a backwards step.
roman put in some good tackles today and played very well considering it was his first ever game of rugby, well done Roman!

Jacob davies , Jacob is only little but a lad who can put in some big hits , he only had 1 run with the ball but he made it count and made some cracking meters for his team , well done Jacob!

Joseph morris, Joseph was today's joint captain, he put in some strong tackles today, he was up there for tackler of the match this week , well done Joseph!

Connor stubbs, Connor on his first run ran the ball in hard broke away from 3 of ashtons defence and scored his self a try ! well done connor!

Billy traynor, on billys first run he went from his own 10 yard line through a couple of ashtons defence , making great meters for pilks , he was very unlucky not to make his first try today, this lad has pace to burn , well done Billy!

George Edmondson, George started off today very unsure of his self , so much so we didn't think he was going to play , but after having a chat with him George made his debut and all that lack of confidence and none believe in his self we seen , as he played his confidence just grow , he showed he didn't need to doubt his self as he stood firm with ashton and put in some good attack and defence , which also earned him coaches choice, well done George!

myself and Darren asked on tuesday at training that all the kids just take the ball and run forwards, stand firm in your defence and make some big hits, pilks gave us that this week and more , each and everyone of you gave us 100% this week and i couldn't ask anything else from you , you gave it your all !

The first quarter pilks was 2/0 up after seeing some awesome attack , but as we got into the second quarter we seen pilks defence started to break away , which lead to Ashton going 3/2 up but by the 3/4th quarter pilks defence was coming back , lines was getting set correctly , attack was stronger and we seen pilks and Ashton giving tries tit for tat , which lead pilks to end in a 7/7 draw!

Man of the match went to James hatton aka Tommy makinson, James ran onto the ball did a lovely side step leaving 2 Ashton players scratching there heads , this lead to it opening up and James just sprinted his way over the try line for pilks very first try of the season, well done James !

Our joint captain today was Aaron king , Aaron took the role with ease, he was getting all the players back on there line, when we needed players to fill in defence straight away he shouted them back, this took no asking from me or Darren he is a natural leader and had pilks well organised !

Parents choice with no surprise went to Luke Brighouse, who yet again this week had an outstanding game, Luke scored a hat-trick
today for pilks, he was awesome in defence and attack , he always gives me 100% without asking , he was up there for man of the match again this week , well done Luke!

Tackler of the match went to Lewis Taylor, Lewis made some try saving tackles today , 1 that stood out in particular , Ashton was on for a try , Then lewis came into the side from no where round to the back and made a cracking tackle , stopping the try and left the Ashton player and me thinking where did he come from i wasn't expecting that ! I think Lewis has in herited his big brothers hand off , after making an awesome hand off too stop Ashton dead in there tracks, lewis was unlucky not to break free and score today ,well done Lewis!

Josh hunt was also on for awards this week and narrowly missed out , Josh put in some good attack and defence today and came away with 2 lovely tries !

Isaac Heyes , Ethan Cowin , Bryn Edwards , Josh larkin , Rhys crehan , Zak atherton , all played well today in defence and attack , keep up the good work boys !

I just have to mention an awesome tackle of Noah heatons , Ashton was certain of a try when we seen Noah run half of the pitch moving across to making a big hit and stopping Ashton getting there try, Well done Noah

I would like to say a big thanks to Ste crehan for all the pictures and all his help and support with pilks it is much appreciated !

Today was a massive positive and a step in the right direction for pilks in there attack and defence , Well done to each and every one of you !
