WHAT A WIN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Blackbrook came to pilks with 15 kids , pilks had 20.
We did want to run 2 games but this wasn't possible this week !
Was a very nice day for a game of rugby !
It was like watching a Wigan v St. Helens Derby match.
All week me and Darren have worked on 3 things . Tackling , play ball quicker , getting back in position quicker.
I tried to keep the score each quarter but with the ferocious tackling on both sides I forgot !
I think I got a bit too excited today .
For me and Darren what impressed us the most was the way Pilks defended their line , with two and three players in every tackle!
It's always nice to win and always nice to see you score, but willingness to listen , to learn , work as a team and defend your line is key . One of the hardest things and some don't realise how hard it is for these kids to tackle all match , they put in some big hits and take some big hits and it takes all their energy but they get back up each time and carry on so for me this is what impresses us the most !

Captain today was Lewis Taylor, Lewis looked today like he had a quiet game , with the blackbrook players running to the left of the wing a lot of the match , but when they did run to the right of the wing , only one try was conceded , Lewis and his team held them out ! Was some try saving tackles being made so blackbrook changed wings and used the left side of the wing for the rest of the match. Lewis did what I asked and stayed in his position which kept pilks defence solid ! Lewis having another try denied again this week . Doing his famous side step , dove for the line and a blackbrook player ripped the ball out and the try was denied as being short . Nevemind Lewis your defence was solid and this is all I ask of you . Super game mate , keep it up !

Man of the match, Aaron king ! What a game from Aaron this week from start to finish , Aaron having missed none of his tackles !
He was everywhere on the pitch today , his one on one tackling in open field was outstanding . He took some big hits but certainly gave some big hits back ! His running with the ball was stunning , he was breaking the blackbrook defence and making some cracking meters for pilks ! Let's not forget Aaron scored this week also . Taking the ball on blackbrook 10 meter line , 2 side steps and in for a nice try ! Well done Aaron your best performance by far !

Tackler of the match, Leighton Glover . Leighton never lets me down , week in week out he is up there on the tackle count , I can't fault Leighton any of the weeks he has played for pilks . He was outstanding in defence today ! Covering the left of the field , he was in there on every tackle . Making one on one tackles , putting in some massive hits ! Holding pilks defence sometimes on his own ! This lad never complains , never messes , comes on the pitch and plays a stunning game of rugby ! You wouldn't think this little lad is not only 6 has only played a few games for us so far this season ! He is very well disciplined and has a lot of upper body strength ! I'm glad it wasn't me in front of him today ! He even managed to get his self a try , this was no easy try ! Leighton took his run of the ball on his line , breaking blackbrook defence , full length of the pitch and went in for a cracking try ! Stunning little lad to watch when he plays rugby ! Perfect game Leighton !

Parents choice went to Josh Hunt , you don't realise how much ground he covers in a game and how he tackles ! He put in some cracking attack today , making plenty of yards in each run of his ball for pilks ! He put in some amazing defence on the left of the wing holding blackbrook out , Josh was very unlucky not to be given a try this week , having just put a foot in touch was denied his try , very unlucky Josh ! Outstanding game Josh well done !

Coaches choice , (jacks choice) James Hatton . James again looked like he had a quiet game in defence , far from it ! Not many blackbrook players came over to that side of the wing having been held up a few times they moved to left wing hoping that would be an easier attack ! When blackbrook did try his wing James managed to hold them out with his team mates ! James took some massive hits today , never complained just got back up like nothing had happened ! Tough little cookie is our Tommy mac ! Unlucky not to score this week ! Your first try will soon come . But your defence is what impresses me week in week out , brilliant game James well done !

Bravery award George Edmundson . George got this trophy as he took some massive hits this week ! Had a little tear in his eye (so did I for him ) what some don't realise is how timid this little lad was only a few week ago and wasn't sure if he wanted to continue playing ! Taking some big hits today and was asked did he want to leave the pitch , a straight answer of no ! Was bravery in its self to want to keep on the pitch and not let his team down ! His running onto the ball was outstanding this week , each week George is improving and surprising me just how tough he is becoming ! Well done George proud of you mate !

All tries was cracking tries and all the lads was equally as good in defence !

Going to mention Zak Atherton and Rhys Crehan , Zak put in some cracking defence today , he was off his line quick and straight in there , his defence was bang on again , making one on one tackles . One in particular that he made on his own and put blackbrook into touch and stopped them from scoring a try ! Was brill running in with the ball , didn't stop kept pushing for that try line ! Rhys Crehan this little lad always gives me 100% he put in some cracking attack today , side stepping players , making a lot of yards for pilks ! Give him the ball and heads for that try line , some stunning rugby 2 watch along the way ! No fear in this little lad ! Unlucky not to score this week Rhys ! Well done lads your defence is impressive !!!

Well done to Ethan Cranny , Ethan cowin, Billy Traynor, Josh Larkin & Noah heaton , all of you played your part today well done !

All lads played outstanding today , even tho we have some stand out performances and give trophies for these , all of you make it a team and all of you play your part and without you all we wouldn't of got the win we did today !
What a win it was .... All of you make me and Darren proud of you every week but this week it was better than watching a Wigan v St. Helens Derby match ! You was all stunning to watch ! Well done you should be proud of Yourselfs!

Thanks to all the parents who attended today and who are so understanding with how sometimes the game plan doesn't always go to plan and things get changed at last minute . with having such a big squad it isn't always easy to be 100% with runs but I do try my best every week to make it as fair as possible . I am only human and sometimes make mistakes but I will always try to rectify this! So again thanks to you all for your understanding ! My job as a coach is to make sure all kids have fun and enjoy the game and I will always try my best for them !
