Pilkington Recs v Golborne

.

Pilks took 21 kids to Golborne.
Golborne only having 13 lads so with them running two games to accommodate our big squad we lent them one of our players!
Coming up this week to a very big, well coached squad it was like David & Goliath !
Taking nothing away from pilks even tho we took a loss this week , their defence was a million times better this week and we was all working in pairs and as a team !
In my opinion this is the best side we have played this season so far !
All kids today but their bodies on the line and I could never ask more of you !

Awards split again this week with running two games !
Darren will do his write up later !

Captain this week for pilks was our little Rhys Crehan ! Rhys lead from the front on Golborne. First attack they sent their big players in near the pilks line. For a little lad he isnt half strong ! Rhys stood his ground, he may of got knocked back 10 yards got up and said to me phew (ha) but he didn't let any of these lads phase him ! On attack he is strong running with the ball and nothing stops him having a good go at that try line ! He is a little cracker to watch play ! He takes the ball and he's gone , running forward strong , nice little side step on him and he always makes good yards for his team ! Rhys' defence was outstanding today ! He put in some big hits and took some big hits , got back up quick 2 be on his defence and was there waiting for the next 1 ! You don't realise how hard it is for a child of 6 to put in a big hit then to be back quick enough on your defence ready for the next tackle , takes all your energy and strength to keep on doing it over and over , you wouldn't think this tho if you watched Rhys ! This also gained Rhys coaches choice award this week and was the easiest choice for me all season ! He listens in training , never messes , he gives 100% respect for me as a coach , anything I ask him to do he will give it a good go even if he thinks I'm talking rubbish ha ! He is a little role model for all those playing ! Rhys had the Perfect game well done mate !

Man of the Match went to Joseph Morris. Joseph hasn't played for a few weeks but he came back with a bang ! His tackling was outstanding today ! His running onto the ball was brilliant , he was making good yards for pilks. His defence is what impressed me today he was awesome ! I'm glad you have decided to start playing again Joseph , would of been ashame to lose such a crackling little player !

Bravery award went to James Hatton this week. James gained this award as he stepped two Golborne players, when they managed to get hold of James and completed the tackle , James took a knee straight into his face ( total accident in the tackle)felt the impact for him! James being James wanted to stay on and carry on but for as much as I love you on my defensive line that was some hit and you needed a rest! James did a cracking run went into the far corner , dove for the cone but it was the wrong cone ! Very unlucky mate but a nice effort . Well played mate !

A big thanks to Dylan Greenall who put his hand up to play for Golborne this week ! Dylan's running onto the ball was perfect this week and again his tackling is improving week by week . I think playing against his own team gave Dylan the confidence he needed to get stuck into tackles . Your defence this week was the best I have seen for you so Well done mate! Well done also for playing the full match for Golborne and stepping up your game !

Try scorers this week was
Leighton Glover racking his tally up with another two tries was nice to see your defence back this week mate also every tackle you made was around the legs and this is what impressed the most with you this week , I knew little super man was only having a weeks break Impressive ! Well done mate

Luke brighouse also scoring two tries this week adding to his already impressive score line , well done mate !

Aaron king added a try to his tally this week , took some big hits today but didn't let that stop him and carried on like a pro ! Well done mate !

Also playing for pilks this week was , Zak Atherton , Lewis Taylor & bryn Edwards. You all played your part this week and their was some cracking defence from all of you ! Playing as a team and working together on your defence ! You was all so close to the try line this week but as I said they was a massive side and was just to strong ! Defence this week was a million times better than last week and you all gave me 100% and this is all I ever ask of you ! There was some eager dashes off our line to make tackles .just timing issues we can work on in training ! You are willing to learn and improve your discipline when I ask and this is what I love about you ! Proud of you all today you was basically a year 1 side today playing a year 2 side ( looked like year 9 ha!) you didn't back out of tackles , stood your ground best you could ! You was all spot on with Your running onto the ball and go forward , your defence was impressive so for that you all deserved an award ! Well done lads proud again this week my little stars are back !

Thanks to Ste Crehan for taking all the pictures again this week , your help is much appreciated !

Thanks to Alan Greenall for his help on the side lines , your help was much appreciated !

Captain for the handsome team this week was Aidan Gibbons. It was also his debut and what a belting debut it was.
He ran the ball in well and got stuck into the tackling like a good un. If his first 40 mins is anything to go by he should go along way.

Coaches award this week goes to Josh Hunt. He always puts in a big display and this week was no exception. He always runs forward ,normally taking a couple of defenders with him and never sherks the tackling.

Man of the Match went to Noah Heaton. Having his best game for Pilks this week with some top tackling and strong running culminating in his well deserved try.

As Chris has said Golborne were probably the best side we've faced so it was really pleasing to see everyone putting their hands up and willing to get stuck in.George Edmondson was his usual effervescent self full of beans and willing to get involved. Harvey Cathcart is showing some great promise with his straight forward running while Ethan Cranny is starting to gain a reputation as a tricky runner with a nice little side step. Alex Claderbank took a knock to his leg early on but struggled through coming back on when I asked showing great character. Isacc Heyes is gaining in confidence week in week out and this week was another good step up from him.

Lastly I'd like to mention Josh Larkin. He is a player with bags of heart and this week pulled off a stunning one on one tackle against a lad much bigger than him . The lad ran straight at him obviously thinking he could run over him but Josh stood his ground and brought him crashing to the floor.A top tackle by anyone's standards.

A great day of rugby with everyone getting plenty of game time ...........and it didn't rain , doesn't get much better than that in my book.
