Pilkington Recs v Latchford U7's

Chris Taylor5 Jul 2015 - 21:24

.

Pilks welcomed latchford and clock face this week.
Spirits was high with 3 games being run meant all kids could play the full match.
Pilks year 1s v latchford year 1s.
Pilks year 2s v clock face
Pilks year 1&2 v latchford year 1&2

year 1s “ Pilks warriors ” was with me today who all match was going try for try.
Latchford then sending their biggest player in just managed to break pilks defence and gain the win 11/10.
There was some stunning off loads . Some cracking defence and an awesome team game !
All kids worked their socks off to keep latchford out.
If I'm honest the score line isn't a true reflection of the game. I thought how all our year 1s played today and how outstanding their defence was they deserved the win. Taking nothing away from latchford lads who was awesome running with the ball, very well coached team !
I can't stress enough today how awesome the off loads was from the U7's this week.
Gaining compliments from latchford parents and coach at how stunning the off loads was for their ages , they said how their team just couldn't cope with them . This was the first team they have come across this season who have off loaded the ball so much and so good !

Was lovely to see all the year 1s smiling away on the pitch , the team giving encouragement to each other when tries was scored. They was talking to each other in defence . Was a full teams performance this week .
For me this was the best I have seen our year 1s play. Today was a really enjoyable game of rugby. Listening to year 1 parents this was their most enjoyable match so I'm glad everyone was happy.

All the kids looked totally shattered after today's game ha!

This game was my hardest choice in awards all season. I just couldn't give one man of the match this week. Both these kids gave me there all. The off loads they made to each other was just stunning to watch.

My first man of the match went to no other than our Leighton glover , Leighton like every week he plays for us was outstanding in defence. He made some big hits and some super try savers. This child comes on the pitch and puts his body on the line. I've said week after week he is stunning to watch play rugby and I didn't see how he could top previous weeks. Well he did it today . His off loads to Lewis Taylor and sending him in for a try was just awesome. This was no just throwing the ball and hoping for the best, it was a perfectly timed and skilled pass to send him over. Leighton also gained his self a hat trick this week with some cracking tries.he is a lovely little lad who always has a smile on his face and plays his heart out for his team. You played outstanding today Leighton , you should be proud of yourself as I know I am of you !

My second man of the match went to no other than our Lewis Taylor. Lewis was holding back on tackles these last Few weeks after busting his lip open in training I think knocked his confidence a little bit. He told us today he was going on the pitch and going to be a little tackling machine . Well he certainly did just that . His defence was outstanding again making some cracking try saving tackles. His off loads to Leighton glover again was perfectly timed and skilled pass to send him in for a try. Lewis also side stepped his way into a hat trick this week with some cracking tries. Lewis played his little socks off today for his team. He can be a shy little boy but today he was brimming with confidence and it was lovely to see. You played outstanding today Lewis , you should be proud of yourself as I know I am of you !

As you can see with the man of the match these two was just so like for like I just couldn't choose between them !

Bravery award went to no other than Josh Larkin. Josh gained his self the bravery award as Josh struggles with confidence when running with the ball. These last few weeks we have seen Josh coming along in games and having a go at one on one tackles . But we just couldn't get him to gain his confidence to run with the ball and not throw it away . Well today after keep trying , talking to josh he did it , he took his run of the ball and I asked him just run forward and don't throw it away . Josh took his run down the wing and took the players on , keeping hold of the ball he tried his best was taken down but kept hold and he gained this award for his bravery in doing so . Now I know this can seem little to some people but me knowing Josh I know how much courage he put into doing this after having a go and then deciding no I can't do it and throw it away to then actually go for it all in one match , I was a very proud coach . Well done Josh you should be proud of yourself as I know I am of you !

Just a little mention for the others who played for pilks today as without u all we wouldn't of got the score line we did.

James Hatton , gaining his self a hat trick this week. Was going in for his 4th try but just got caught at the line ! Some cracking tries was made by our Tommy and was unlucky not to gain his self an award this week. He was strong running with the ball . He put in some cracking defence and did some awesome off loads . Was your best game today mate and you should proud of yourself as I know I am of you !

Rhys Crehan , Rhys was outstanding today in defence , Rhys needs to stop being so hard on his self, if it isn't perfect then Rhys gets annoyed with his self.. He shouldn't as he always comes on the pitch and plays his heart out and today was no exception he was awesome running with the ball and I can't stress enough how unlucky this little lad was not to score . He would gain his team some cracking meters to the try line but just couldn't manage to take his self over. Never mind mate we will get you that try soon enough . You are just going from strength to strength every week . Without his strong running to the try line , the try's wouldn't be as high as they was !! You was impressive today mate you should be proud of yourself as I am of you ! Fiery little Mr he is and once he's let off that line , well I feel sorry for who is in front of him! Always a happy little lad who never causes me any problems ! He is an absolute pleasure to have in my team !

Zak atherton . Zak was so unlucky this week not to score . Latchford defence broke down and a gap came available , Zak just couldn't manage to shoot into it and gain his self his first try . Don't worry mate you will soon get your first try . You was brill in defence again today mate ! Stop being so hard on your self , your a crackling little defender and should be proud of yourself as I know I am of you !

Joseph Morris , Joseph made some cracking meters today for his team , was strong running forward with the ball and made some cracking tackles along the way , you was also unlucky not to break the defence and gain yourself a try for pilks , for today's performance you should be proud of yourself mate as I know I am of you !

Dylan Greenall , Dylan played the second half with me and the year 1s . Dylan took his first run and went straight in for a cracking try in the corner. Was unlucky not to gain his self another try, just couldn't mange to break latchford defence. Dylan's defence is going from strength to strength . You should be proud of your self today with your performance as I know I am of you !

Ethan cowin , Ethan played the first half for me then the second half with stu playing. where he gained his self an award . With me Ethan was again awesome in defence today and made some cracking meters for his team . You should be proud of yourself as I know I am of you !

Well done to all under 7s today , your attitude , defence and go forward with the ball was just outstanding . You all played for each other and all helped each other out when needed. Was lovely to see you all backing each other and helping out when ever you could. Was lovely to see off loads and tries being gained from off loads and not being selfish with the ball . Can't praise you all enough for today's performance , it was the best I have seen you play . Everything you did was perfect and like I said you deserved the win in my eyes ! Your defence is what impresses me and today just blown me away ! You all deserved an award this week and if I had them I would of given them . Thanks to you all for making my job harder this week ha ! It was a very pleasing hard work this week so more of it please !
Well done my little super stars , “Pilks Warriors ” are well and truly back ! you have one VERY proud coach !!!

Thanks to Kerry marsh for giving all the kids their food this week , your help was much appreciated !

Thanks to ste Crehan for taking the pictures again this week , your help is much appreciated !

Thanks to Alan Greenall for his help with time keeping and score line for me , your help was much appreciated !

A massive thanks to Stuart king for helping out and running one of the games so all the kids could have a full game , your help was much appreciated !

Also I would like to say a massive thanks as I don't think we ever give any recognition to this lady for all she does for the under 7s every home game and that is Joanne knapper , for getting up on a Sunday making sure all the food you receive at the end of every home match is there and on time . Thank you very much for giving up your time to do this for us . From all at under 7s !

Year 1/ Year 2 match report by Stuart king.

Today I took a team mixed up of year 1s & year 2s to play against latchford.
First of all I'd like to thank Chris and Darren for asking me to help out with the boys today.
It was an absolute pleasure.
Each and everyone of the boys tried their best, playing In tough conditions , playing a full 40 minutes, some for their first time and doing a really good job for the team.
Today the boys went down 10/2, to a tough tackling, well drilled latchford side.
At last we have great weather for watching rugby.
Lovely sunshine and very hot.
However the team found it difficult to play in.

Captain for today was Aaron king, who more than most found the conditions hard.
He was unable to use his speed & footwork to get through the defence.

Man of the match went to Ethan cowin, who for someone so small showed massive heart and bravery in defence.

Running him close for the honour was Connor Stubbs, who grabbed both of our try's and ran well all game.

Also playing today was Dylan Greenall, Harvey Cathcart, Isaac Heyes, Aidan Gibbons and Josh Hunt.
Each one of these lads ran the ball in well and tried to get stuck in , in defence.
All in all a really enjoyable group of lads to be involved with.
Thank you boys keep it up !

OK now for the report from the Pilks V Clock Face

The 'George Cloony' 7 this week played a team they lost to a couple of weeks ago but stepped up and played their part in a 6 - 6 draw. The captain this week was Noah Heaton who's tackling has always been good but the last couple of weeks it's his running that has really caught the eye .He has started to gain a bit of confidence and is running straight and breaking tackles.our try scorers this week were Luke Brighouse who constantly has a strong running and tackling game this week no exception , Max Fear who is gaining a reputation as a tricky runner to stop when in fill flight and Billy Trayner who apart from scoring gained our man of the Match not for his try , which was a cracker but for his tackling which was textbook in almost every one he did .
The rest where not just a support cast. George Edmondson made some fantastic breaks and was very unlucky not to score.Ethan Cranny took one heck of a knock in a tackle but stood his ground and came back on to show the character he has. Alex Claderbank was our only year one and at first seemed to be a bit overawed and hurt himself in a tackle but as the game went on he visibly grew and started to take the ball forward really well and got stuck in in the tackling.

I have to say the really pleasing thing about the game was you all played as a team, you defended together and in attack you backed each other up and it showed as one of Luke's trys came off a couple of strong forward runs and a couple of offloads .It was I consider the best try we have scored this season.

Well done you good looking lot ......and bring on the gladiators !!!!!!!!
