Today we welcome West Bank year 1s and West Bank year 2s.
Games being split year 1s played their own age and so did year 2s.
Thanks to West Bank coaches who I have to say made it the best game we have played this season.
Really friendly, really fair and all the kids had smiles on their faces, your doing a cracking job !

So for the Pilks year 1s v West Bank year 1s.

The “ugly” team came off winning 11/10, you see we don't need to look pretty we just show how pretty we are on the pitch with how we play , the “pretty” team was obviously too busy standing looking “pretty ”on their match !! Haha ! Told u lads after last weeks “new hair ” don't take tips off your coach on how to look pretty ! ;)

This was our first match back after 6 weeks off. We started off rusty losing 3/1 but Pilks after a good talking too, soon picked their game up and showed what we are about. The game was 1 minute left and it was 10/9 to Pilks, West Bank managed to get a try in the corner and make it even 10/10. We had 6 tackles to draw or win. I have to say this was a nail biting moment for both sets of coaches. My lads showed they wanted the win today, Pilks took the ball on the half way , driving it forward to west banks 10 meter line , we was on the forth tackle and I seen Pilks go down I thought only two more to go when Pilks took the ball one handed , stretched over and scored ! TRY ! All the kids was beaming I didn't need no confirmation the try was given, West Bank coach hands on his head and all players running back beaming was enough too say we won , call game now ha !

You all played outstanding today , nothing I write can justify just how well you all played and how outstanding your defence was. Some may think with the high close score line it wasn't that good , wrong ! The defence was stunning , the go forward with ball was stunning and your all my super stars and I couldn't be any prouder of you all !! You all deserved awards !!

Making their debut today was Zack Kilganon , Zack is such a shy quiet little lad . Who to be honest I thought would struggle with his shyness, he did miss a couple of runs with not pushing his self forward on his go. We had words and this little lad had a cracker of a game , scoring nearly a full length try on his run , his tackling was brilliant and he did me , his self and his parents proud well done Zack brilliant first game little man !

Also making his debut today was Josh Crilly and gained his self man of the match award. Josh I was excited to see start playing. He's only a little lad but he hasn't got an ounce of fear in him. I give him the ball and say run forward Josh. He takes the ball with ease, runs hard and strong and gains some cracking meters. It's his defence that impresses me the most , he was outstanding today in defence. This was his first game but boy did he set the bar high for the other lads with his tackle count. Well done Josh you had a perfect game and you did me , yourself and your parents proud !

Also making his debut was Jacob Bailey , Jacob ran well with the ball , . We still have a lot of work to do with Jacob and his concentration and his confidence . This will all come as he plays more games but for his first game he played well , well done mate !

Captain today was no other than our super man ,Leighton glover , Leighton as always lead from the front and had a cracking game , he was high up on the tackle count putting some outstanding defence on Pilks own line , as always this little lad never lets me down and gives me his all. Scoring his self two tries for Pilks this week . You had a cracker of a game mate well done !

Man of the match went to no other today than Josh Larkin , this little lad normally takes the ball , off loads as quick as he can and let's his team mates run it up. Today he was absolutely brilliant. He is a quiet lad on the pitch who normally lacks confidence. Well today we seen a totally different Josh, he took the ball and I expected a quick off load , oh no Josh ran the ball hard , broke the West Bank defence and sprinted his way to the try line , scoring his first try for Pilks. I think his mum nearly wet herself haha ! I have to say how proud I am of you today Josh not only did u run the ball in , you made some cracking try saving tackles , some outstanding one on one tackles and when u ran for that try I think I needed a chair to sit down ! I can't tell you how proud you made me today , yourself and your parents ! You played a blinder mate well done !

Coaches choice went to Lewis Taylor , Lewis had a brilliant game today in defence , holding out West Bank on his own line, making some really good meters when he took the ball . Lewis scored his self two tries today . The last try I have to say made me the proudest , We had 6 tackles to win the game , Lewis took his run on the 4th , he ran the ball from west bank 10 meter line I seen Lewis go down and thought that's the 4th gone , oh no Lewis had one better up his sleeve. He cleverly took the ball with one hand and stretched it over the try line and placed the ball down , very proud of you today mate for not giving up and thinking I'm down take the tackle like some may do, but you thought quickly out the box to get the ball in one hand and stretch over the line with players all over you was brilliant in this age group ! Well done mate you had a cracking game!

James Hatton, James had a really good game today . Ran strong with the ball and put in some cracking defence on his own line.
He is only a little lad but has a lot of power behind him. Also scoring Pilks their first try today well done mate !!

Jacob Davies, Jacob as always gave me 100% , put in some cracking tackles.
Ran really strong with the ball and made some cracking meters for his team.
A really quiet, polite lovely little lad who just loves to play. Scoring his self two tries today for Pilks. Well done mate!

Bryn Edwards , Bryn missed out on a few runs today with the tries being scored , plus he is such a quiet shy little lad and kept missing his run. So we decided to play Bryn some extra time to make his runs up and as always he put in some cracking defence and ran strong with the ball . Scoring his self a try for Pilks this week. Well done mate!

Rhys Crehan, our little fiery Rhys , as he always does he gave me 100%. He put in some cracking defence on the wing and was holding out West Bank on his own line , sometimes on his own! He always runs strong and confident with the ball , Rhys doesn't give up until he's pushed every ounce of his self forward and gains some cracking meters for his team ! He is only a little lad but has a lot of upper body strength and gives me his all ! Scoring his self a well deserved try this week . Well done mate.

Not forgetting our other lads who played today !

Dylan greenall , Dylan ran strong with ball today and gained some good meters for his team , his tackling is improving week by week and put in some solid defence . Well done mate.

Zak Atherton. This little lad is going to make me grey (I can hear u laughing ). Zak is way to hard on his self . No matter how well he does he always finds fault with his self even when there isn't any faults to be found. He tackled well and ran well with the ball .i think Zak has just lost a bit of his confidence. You have come so far this season and always high up on the tackle count. You don't need to be so hard on your self ! We will be working on that confidence again and self belief and as soon as we get that back and you belief in your self , like i believe in you that try will come mate ! Well done for today little fella !

Joseph Morris , Joseph ran strong with the ball today and put in some solid defence on his own line , was unlucky not to score, you had a cracking game today mate well done !

Isaac Heyes , Isaac is improving week by week , he is running a lot stronger and harder with the ball , his tackling is improving and he is making all the right steps in improving his games week by week , well done mate !

Well done to Every child who played today , you all make me proud week by week . you all put in some cracking solid defence and I can't fault any of you , your discipline was perfect , your tackles was outstanding and your go forward with the ball was superb.
You all listen to me and all do as I ask and your smiles say it all for me, I can never ask anymore of you than this ! Well done lads the super stars are back !

Thanks to Joanne knapper, who takes the time out to have all your food ready for you after you play , even when we are running late she still stays around and makes sure you are all happy , so from all at under 7s thank you for all your time and effort it's very much appreciated !

The year 2's started back with a to and fro game against a good west bank bears side. Attacks were certainly on top as both sides showed great flare and a willingness to throw the ball around. Although I feel both sets of players may be in for some tackling drills in the next couple of weeks.....

The man of the Match for Pilks was Connor Stubbs who not only scored our opening try but put some great runs in and helped himself to another try in the second half.
The top tackler went to Noah Heaton who never pulls out of a tackle and today was no different he also topped off a fine display with his first try ......
Other try scorers were........
Max Fear.....he scored 4 trys and not only off his own runs but by backing up his teammates as well which was very pleasing....
George Edmondson.... 2 trys for the ever improving George who also put some cracking tackles ......
Special mentions go to Billy Trayner ,Josh Hunt ,Ethan Cranny, Aidan Gibbons,Alex Claderbank and Harvey Cathcart who all played their part and never let themselves or their team down.........all of you should be proud of the way you played and the effort you put in.

Even though the scoreboard went against us we showed in large parts of the game that we can play great rugby and that as a team we are moving in the right direction.

And even though the scoreboard shows a loss , we were still far better looking in our loss than the other ones even though they won.....( well done by the way....made up for you all ).......
