Was a really nice day for a change for a brilliant game of rugby

So for the year 1s Pilks v Chorley !
Firstly I would like to say a massive thanks to Chorley coaches , kids and parents, who made today a really fair , friendly and fun experience for All involved !

Pilks started off how we always start off , very slow .
Losing 5/2 we all re grouped spoke about where we was going wrong and what we needed to improve on.
I have to say all the kids took this on board and as normal Pilks start bouncing back!

Some outstanding on line defence, some superb attack and stunning offloads being made !
i have to say , Rhys Crehan, Lewis Taylor, Leighton Glover, Jacob Davies and James Hatton came on the pitch and they was all outstanding and got us from being down to a winning score line; which I have to say how the kids played they fully deserved. We needed the kids to hold their win for the remaining 15 minutes. We brought on 7 players and the score line was back to 9/9, bringing the kids named above back on for the remaining 10 minutes and hoped they could pull it back for us and give the kids the win they deserved . I have to say how proud I am of you all , you came back on and you gave me your all and put in some cracking rugby , they managed to get the win 11/9. You all did it for yourselfs but more than anything you did it as a team and that makes me proud ! The way you have all gelled, worked together and help your team mates is just awesome to watch !

You all made every single person who is involved with Pilks U7s very proud !

Our captain today was Zack Kilgannon, This is only zack's second game and he played half for me and half for Darren's team.
I have to say he is coming on in leaps and bounds. When he first started training he wouldn't come onto training on his own. He was so shy and quiet and the difference in last week to this is unbelievable . He came on the pitch full of confidence, he ran strong with the ball . Put in some really good defence and also gained his self a try just on the stroke of half time . Well done little fella you had a cracker of a game ! Proud of you !

Our first man of the match went to no other than our little Zak Atherton. Zak has gone from being a stubborn little Buddha that wouldn't move on the pitch coz he was so hard on his self to a cracking defender , he then lost some of his confidence and we seen the stubborn Zak starting to inch it's way back in as he was trying to get his self his first try of the season . Well today I spoke to Zak and knowing his mum wasn't here this week the only match she has missed all season , I have to say was music to my ears as when Zak comes to training without his mum he always has his best games. I think he tries to hard when his mum is around. I told Zak when u get to that line u dive ! Run hard and dive ! He took the ball on his run and all you seen was Zak diving for the line ... TRY !!! Zak scored his first try for Pilks , I nearly fainted ! Zak took a bang getting his try but he didn't care he ran over beaming ! Sorry mum but he scored a cracking try without u ha ! Well done little fella ! Proud of you !

Our second man of the match was Ellis Carsley, Ellis returned back this week , he soon got back into the swing of things and doing what he does best and that's making some cracking tackles . Ellis ran strong with the ball and gained his self his first try of the season gaining his self man of the match award . Always gives me his best when he's on the pitch and today was no different . Well done little fella you had a brill game today ! Proud of you!

Tackler of the match went to no other than our little super man Leighton glover , Leighton gives me 100%, he's always high up on the tackle count . He put in some cracking defence on his own line , holding Chorley out who kept running to that wing. He was awesome in attack and racked his self up 4 tries this week , some stunning attack ,awesome defence and outstanding off loads being made ! Well done Leighton you fully deserved your award , you had a cracker of a game ! Proud of you!

Now for all the lads who played today .

Going to start with a little lad who a lot miss just how much work he puts in defence and how much effort and strength he puts in his attack , it's no other than our fiery Rhys Crehan, I can honestly say I feel guilty today with Rhys , with awards being split with two games being run we had no trophies left but I thought he deserved an award this week . I thought today was Rhys' best game all season. He was outstanding in attack always pushing his way through the players and even when he didn't score he was making cracking meters for his team . Rhys racked his self up two tries this week and fully deserved tries they was . He did score three but one wasn't given , I think spec savers need pay a visit ! Not going to let that over shadow how stunning you played today little fella . You gave me your all , made some cracking meters , some outstanding on line defence and I couldn't be prouder of you . You are going from strength to strength as the season goes on . Always proud of you Well done little man perfect game for you today !

Jacob Davies , Jacob as always was superb in defence and made some cracking runs for his team , he scored his self two tries again this week , one which was nearly full length of the pitch ! His on line defence was superb also and I'm very proud of you well done mate !

Lewis Taylor , again this was a little lad who was unlucky not to gain a award this week as I think his on line defence was awesome !
His attack was strong and his off loads he makes every week are just outstanding . He doesn't just throw the ball and hope someone collects it , He gets his self in a position (how I don't know with players all over him ) where he can look who is there and off loads the ball perfectly to them , setting up some cracking tries . Well done mate very proud of your defence and off loads this week !

Tommy Mac , James Hatton only played half of the match for me , again his on line defence was awesome this week and put in some cracking attack . It's your defence that impresses me the most and every week you don't let me down and you play as a team. Very proud of you ! Well done mate cracking second half from you !

Josh crilly, this is only Josh's second match of the season but for a little lad he doesn't half put in some big hits and stops players in there tracks. Your defence today was just awesome again mate and I'm very proud well done !

Bryn Edwards, bryn played an awesome game today, he was gaining some cracking meters for his team and his defence as always is outstanding , couldn't fault you today mate had a cracking game well done little fella proud of you !

Josh Larkin , Josh played half for my team this week and played the second half for Darren's team . I have to say again Josh has come back this week and played some cracking rugby . His defence is going from strength to strength making one on one tackles and stopping players from scoring tries , I have to say in his team he was high up on the tackle count . Well done mate you had a cracking game proud of you !

Aidan gibbons, this little lad is going make me grey , he had a cracking game and was awesome in defence but sometimes them tackles slip up a bit too high , he really is a good player and always gives 100% we just need to keep them tackles nice and low , well done mate you had a brill game proud of you !

Dylan greenall , Dylan had a really good game this week , put in some cracking meters for his team , his defence has been getting better as the weeks have been going on , he just let his self slip a little bit this week with his defence but his attack was awesome , gained his self a little ankle injury and had to come off for the last 10 but I'm told all is well and will return as normal next week , we need to get Dylan off loading the ball rather than running back to his own line . Get better soon little lad and well done for today proud of you !

Alex calderbank , Alex played really well today , he is improving on his attack and his tackling is getting stronger as the weeks go on , we seen him today having a go of one on one tackles, well done Alex you played well today mate proud of you .

Jacob Bailey , This is only Jacobs second game but he's getting there with his running with the ball , we still have work to do with his defence but this will all the come the more he trains, plays and gels with the team . Nice to see no messing from you this week Jacob . Well done for today's game proud of you !

Well done to every single child that play today , you all did yourselfs proud. I am going to end it with just stunning and a very awesome win again this week ! We don't mind being called the ugly team as our prettiness just shows on the pitch , what was your score again handsome lot ?? , I heard how well you year 2s played and only just losing with a dubious decision , unlucky lads . Well done on your performance !

Now for Darren's dapper destroyers........

The patents were treated to a cracking game of rugby today by two sets of excellent rugby league players, playing the game as it should be played , hard but fair. Although the scoreboard showed a 8-9 defeat it felt anything but that as each and everyone played out of their skin and put nothing less than their best into the game. Try scorers today were George Edmondson, Max Fear,Connor Stubbs,James Hatton Joseph Morris (2)and Aaron King (2). Some of our defence this week was outstanding with some extra special effort on the line by Josh Hunt and some last ditch tackling by Noah Heaton.Harvey Cathcart did some strong straight running , Billy Traynor was his usual handful going forward and Ethan Cranny is developing a devastating sidestep . For part of the game we had the services of Isacc Hayes , Zak Kilgannon and Josh Larkin , all 3 did their very best and didn't let anybody down.

The scoreboard might have looked a little bit different but for a dubious last minute decision but I'll take that all day long so long as you play the way you did and put the effort in that you did today.

As usual I'd like to thank my mum for the coffee and fosters for making a beer that tastes of rum.....( Chris has people to thank )........onwards to next Sunday..... I can't wait me !
