Pilks hosted woolston this week.
Having played woolston our very first game of the season it was a match i wanted the kids to play again to see just how far the lads have come. Even tho we took a loss this week, the improvement was massive and was on display for everyone to see. I think I speak for everyone just how outstanding the defence was today, even tho with the score line you wouldn't think it. If you watched the game you would know just how superb these kids was today. We had the chances we just didn't take them as well as woolston did. If I'm honest I don't think the score line reflects just how outstanding these lads was. All credit to woolston who have a cracking set of coaches, not only was they concerned about their own kids they was equally concerned about ours when injuries happened. They was boosting both sets of kids confidence. Woolston under 7s really couldn't ask for better coaches, from the young lad keeping time , to the coaches , the ref and parents was superb to be a part of today!
Today's captain was Jacob Davies, Jacob as always was leading from the front, his tackling is just superb and is always high up on the tackle count. His go forward with the ball is awesome and he really does play his little heart out for his team. As always proud of you little lad !
My choice of man of the match went to this week no other than our little Dylan Greenall, Dylan is only a little lad but has a lot of speed, today for me what impressed me the most was his tackling. He made some stunning one on one tackles, he really did put his body on the line again today. His running with the ball was superb and he gained plenty meters for his team. Dylan made a break from half way line and left woolston defence stumped as he went in for a cracking try. We know Dylan has the speed and can score tries when he gets the breaks, it's his defence i have been waiting to see again and you have certainly got it back with a bang. You had a stormer of a game little lad and I couldn't be prouder of you !
My tackler of the match went to Joseph Morris, Joseph having been playing for the older under 7s came back this week with us and he was just awesome in defence, he put in some cracking one on one tackles and ran strong with the ball. This little lad has a cracking side step when he uses it. Well done little lad proud of you !
Darren's man of the Match went to Isaac Heyes, Darren said just how well he thought Isaac ran with the ball this week, he was calling for the ball and asking for the off load and followed it up with strong running, well done little lad proud of you !
Darren's bravery award went to, George Edmundson. Darren said just how far George as come this season to not being sure if rugby is for him to a cracker defender and go forward with the ball. He took a massive hit today in the game but he got up and said no I'm fine let's carry on, Darren asked him to go back to his team and give it his best shot and this little lad took it in his stride and carried on with the game, well done little lad proud of you !
As there was so many kids today I'm just going to name the kids in sets of three.
Ethan Cranny, Harvey Cathcart, Billy Traynor, These 3 kids ran hard and strong with the ball and put in some great defence for pilks today. Well done lads proud of you.
Josh hunt, Connor Stubbs, Max fear, these 3 kids had a superb game and put in some strong running with the ball and some cracking defence , max also scoring a try for pilks this week, well done lads proud of you!
James Hatton, Josh Crilly, Bryn Edwards. These three as always put in some super defence and strong running with the ball this week, well done lads proud of you!
Alex calderbank, Jacob Bailey, Josh Larkin. These 3 this week at points in the game was away with the fairies but after a good talk they soon started coming along with the game and put in some good defence and runs with the ball, well done lads proud of you.
Aidan gibbons, Zack Kilgannon, Zak Atherton. These 3 this week was awesome in attack and defence and as always didn't let there team down, well done lads proud of you!
Last but not least, Rhys Crehan, Lewis Taylor and Leighton Glover. The amount of work these 3 put in on the wing was outstanding, their defence was solid and all 3 worked awesome together today. Stunning lads! You three was unlucky not to gain awards this week you played your hearts out, you certainly set the bar high with your defence. well done so proud of you!
I wished I had more awards to give out this week, you all played your socks off. As always in these types of games I go home feeling guilty as I know more deserved awards and I just didn't have them to give out, equally tho I went home extremely proud of every single one of you. You all pulled together as a team and you all gave me 100%, I could never ask anymore of you. So proud of my boys, well done keep it up!
