Today's game was at home. Year 1s playing Rylands, year 2s playing burtonwood. We had a bit of messing before the game which I thought if I'm honest here we go this is how the morning will pan out, to my surprise the kids was well behaved and got on with doing what they do best, playing rugby! I did tell the kids with the backing of all parents that any messing and it's on the side lines for 5 minutes as with so many kids and the amount of games they know the rules. In the match I have to say the kids was very well disciplined, their defence was brilliant and the attack was strong from the second half. How ever even though we won I don't think this is the best defence or attack we have seen them play this season. We will take the win all the same and I credit every single one of you for standing up and working as a team and gaining yourself the win. We was losing at one point in the game , lack of discipline, lack of defence and lack of communicating with each other , having spoke to the kids and told them where they was going wrong, they went back on after half time and put things right and from this they gained the win. Well done lads as always you did me proud.
Year 1s match report.
Our captain for today was Zak Atherton, what a stormer he had today. Zak was a little cracker in defence, in attack this is the best I have seen Zak play. He ran hard an strong with the ball and made a cracking break from his own line, sprinted his way down the wing and how I don't know just got caught and put into touch. Keep tight hold of the ball and Dive for that line Zak!!
Your attack was bang on today and I'm very proud of you little lad!
Man of the match went to Lewis Taylor, to be honest it wouldn't look like Lewis did do much in defence today as When Rylands ran down his side he made some cracking tackles but then they decided to use the right wing so couldn't put in the amount of tackles he has been doing. Lewis' attack was spot on today he ran strong with the ball and racked his self up a hat-trick. Lewis makes some awesome off loads ! Well done little lad very proud of you!
Top tackler this week went to Dylan Greenall. Dylan on his team was by far the stand out tackler, he put in some superb one on one tackles. He was the first off his line and into the tackle stopping Rylands making a meter. His attack was equally as strong today. Scoring a cracking try for pilks. Today was all about defence for Dylan which is what I've asked of him and he stood up and was counted, he brought to the field everything I asked and more. He came on as a sub every time I asked him and he really did give his team his all and I'm very proud of you little lad!
Jacob Davies, Jacob was gaining his self an award this week only the Rylands coach came over and handed me a medal and asked would I give it to no 13 as he had an outstanding game!
I couldn't agree more! Not only did he gain his self an hat-trick this week he was outstanding in defence. This lad gives me his all week in week out. You had a stormer of a game and I'm very proud of you little lad!
Zack Kilgannon scoring for pilks this week. Zack always runs strong and confident with the ball and this week was no different. His defence was superb also. He hasn't played that many matches but he's certainly growing into a cracking little player. Well done little lad very proud of you!
Aidan gibbons, Aidan as always ran strong with the ball and put in some cracking hand offs. He also put his fair share in, in defence this week. We just need to keep these tackles nice and low. Well done little lad very proud of you!
Isaac Heyes, Isaac from a few weeks ago to now is a totally different child. He was a very unconfident little lad on the pitch, who was scared to run at the players incase he hurt someone, now we see him running hard and strong with the ball and brimming with confidence as he does so. He went charging over the line for a cracking try, he also pushed his way to the try line for a second try just getting caught short, unlucky lad, it's lovely to see your confidence growing week by week, very proud of you!
Rhys Crehan, Rhys was very hard done by this week! He took a cracking off load from Lewis Taylor, sprinted his way down the wing and went in for a cracking try in the middle, then was called back for being in touch, I have to say this decision was one of the harshest decisions I have seen all season as he was no where near the touch line! What made me proud was how he took it in his stride, he didn't get frustrated or stamp his feet he said ok and played the ball. You are an absolute pleasure to coach and I'm very proud of you, oh and just to add TRY!!! Given all day long by me well done little lad!
Leighton glover, Leighton loves to play rugby and like Lewis once Rylands worked out they wasn't getting over on that wing they changed sides, meaning it didn't look like Leighton put in the amount of tackles he normally does. Which in fairness he didn't but this was because he was so outstanding in the ones he did put in they moved away from his side!! Was awesome in attack and went crashing over for a superb try. Well done little lad very proud of you!
Joseph Morris, Joseph put in some cracking defence and made some superb try savers, he was strong in attack and scored a cracking try for pilks this week! Well done little lad very proud of you!
Logan parr, this is only this little lads second match of the season, he ran strong with the ball and was very unlucky not to score! He made some cracking tackles and I'm very proud of you!
Bryn Edwards, bryn is a really quiet lad on and off the pitch! He comes on plays his rugby, goes off and waits for his go again. As always bryn was awesome in defence and put in some strong attack, taking his self over the line for a cracking try! Well done bryn you had a cracker of a game and I'm very proud of you!
Dylan finney, This is only Dylan's second match and like last week he put in some strong attack and was unlucky not to score, he put in some superb defence and is such a quiet little boy who never causes me any problems on and off the pitch! Well done little lad very proud of you!
Jacob Bailey, this little lad tries his best when he's on the pitch and he ran strong with the ball on his run. Jacobs confidence will come the more games he plays and once he clicks with the game he will be cracking! Well done little lad proud of you!
The kids as always did me proud in their attack and defence and you all really do make me look an awesome coach, (no complaints from me) ha ! Same again next week lads !
Thanks to Ste Crehan for the pictures, much appreciated!
Thanks to stu King and Alan greenall for running the year 2s game, much appreciated!
Thanks to Joanne knapper as always made food for over 50 of you under 7s, very much appreciated!
Thanks to Kerry marsh for giving the kids their food! Much appreciated!
Thanks to Neil crilly for helping take all the match stuff back to my car very much appreciate it !
Pilks Recs under 7's went down 10-3 to a defensively very well drilled Burtonwood side today .
Pilks started off slowly, struggling to get up off their defensive line, allowing Burtonwood to get an early unassailable lead .
As the game went on, though the boys started to get more into the game and were defending much better as the game wore on, scoring some superb try's in the process.
All in all a decent effort from all the boys today and I thoroughly enjoyed working with them.
My captain today was Ethan Cranny, Ethan lead from the front in both defence and attack, making some superb runs and tackling really well.
Also playing today were.
Noah Heaton, love this lads attitude to his rugby, always plays with a smile on his face. Today his tackling was as good as ever and he ran the ball in really strongly all day.
Harvey Cathcart, love his enthusiasm, he gets stuck in, in defence , but more impressively runs straight and hard at every opportunity.
Max Fear, Max's ability to use his speed to go round defenders got him another excellent try today. He also tackled very well.
Josh Hunt, who's strong running and off loads were as good as ever, really moving the team forward. Josh was also great in defence.
Aaron King, who grabbed himself another great try with his elusive running, and at times defended really well.
George Edmundson, who was unlucky not to grab either of the awards this week as his running with the ball was excellent and his bravery in the tackle was outstanding.
Josh Crilly, who hasn't been playing very long, but showed so much bravery running onto the ball at speed against kids much bigger than him resulting in a superb try, and tackling like a Trojan.
James Hatton, love how this lad plays rugby, runs hard and tackles hard. He was off the line quickly every time today just missing out on the top tackler.
Connor Stubbs, who proved difficult to put down every time he got the ball. He was also great in defence and showed bravery , carrying on after taking a few knocks.
My top tackler was hard to choose today as everyone got stuck in and tried their best. It went to Billy Traynor. He was first off the line at every tackle, and did some excellent one on one hits. He also ran the ball in really well all game.
My man of the match went to Ethan Cowin, I have to say he is one of the bravest players I've ever had the pleasure to work with, never shirks a tackle and for such a small lad runs the ball in as strong as anyone.
Really enjoyed working with the boys today and they all did me and their parents proud.
well done boys. keep it up!
