Pilks went to Ashton this week for a round robin with Ashton and clock face.
Firstly I would like to say a massive thanks to Scott the Ashton Bears coach for inviting us and who reffed the game today, he not only encouraged his own kids but praising and encouraging ours. He was the fairest ref and coach I have come across all season and made the game a lot more, fun, happier and fair morning for the kids. Ashton have a fantastic coach there!
The kids managed to get an 8/4 win over Ashton today and went with a one try loss with clock face 5/4. Was a really enjoyable morning of rugby for all involved!
Our captain today was Lewis Taylor, Lewis has been fantastic all season, he's been consistent throughout and today was no different. He naturally takes on the leadership role and does his best to get kids back on their line. Scoring his self a try for pilks today and his defence in parts today was impeccable. You have been a pleasure to coach! Well done little lad!
Man of the match went to our fiery little Rhys Crehan, Rhys has had a superb season. No matter what I put Infront of him he gives me 100%. Rhys went in for 2 tries for pilks this week and his tackling was just awesome, he was making some cracking one on one tackles which I have to say was some super try savers for pilks! Your defence today was solid, your attack was awesome and your discipline was superb and all this gained you a thoroughly deserved man of the match. You have been a pleasure to coach! Jacob Bailey, Jacob hasn't played many matches for pilks. He was coming on with his strong running and was even getting stuck into tackles. He unluckily took a big hit today, absolutely nothing wrong with tackle just fell funny and injured his knee. I am pleased to say after a trip to the walk in, X Ray's he is fine and has a sprained knee! Get well soon little lad!
Harry Williams, Harry has only played two matches for us so far this season but is running confident with the ball and scored his self a try for pilks this week. He is strong with his defence and put in some great hits today, you have been a pleasure to coach, well done little lad !

Isaac Heyes, Isaac started off the season a very unconfident little lad who didn't really like running at pace with the ball, this little lad has come on in leaps and bounds these past few weeks. He is running hard onto the ball and follows it up with pushing forward for that try line! There is no stopping this lad now! You are flourishing this season! You have been a pleasure to coach well done little lad!
Dylan greenall, Dylan has had a fab season , He took his self over the line for a nice little hat trick this week. His defence in parts was brill! His attack was superb! Dylan these last few weeks has come on in leaps and bounds with his defence just goes to show when you give 100%, no messing just what u can achieve! He has been a pleasure to coach, well done little lad!
Josh crilly, Josh is only a little lad but has no fear in him! He is strong running with the ball but it's his defence that impresses me, for a such a small lad he doesn't half put in some big hits! You had a brill game today and you have been a pleasure to coach well done little lad !
Aidan gibbons, Aidan has had a fab season! He has come on loads from the start of the season to now, he is running strong and confident with the ball and is perfecting these hand offs! I know you have a great future in rugby and wish you all the happiness in the future, you have been a pleasure to coach! Well done little lad!
Leighton glover, Leighton has had a superb season! He has been consistent throughout and his defence has just been outstanding! Leighton has had some little debates over decisions BUT he is the one putting his body on the line week in week out and making some cracking try savers for then them to be awarded would make me have a little debate!

Zak Atherton, Zak has been awesome this season! Zak started this season a moody little boy with no belief in his self! I kept going home thinking if only I could get him to believe in his self like I do! After working with Zak it finally clicked! It was a long journey but we got there! He went from a moody unconfident Zak to a really confident, cracking little defender! Finally he believes in his self and it shows! You have come on massively this season ! Zack Kilgannon, Zack has only played a few matches so far for us this season but has been fab! He is strong in his attack an scored a great opening try for pilks today! He is strong in defence! Bryn Edwards, bryn played for the year 3s this week and from what I was told he had an awesome game!

Josh larkin, Josh really did start to up his game in rugby, he was running confident with the ball and was finally getting involved with tackles and making some cracking one on ones at that, Josh then decided to think he was superman and jump off a table and break his wrist! This was really unfortunate for Josh as he really had just started to shine at rugby! Never mind mate you will soon be back with us and get back to where u left off! You have been a pleasure to coach well done little lad!
Ethan Cowin, Ethan is a cracking little defender, sometimes we do have to tell Ethan to keep his tackling down but I think he just gets too excited. He runs confident with the ball but his defence is what makes Ethan shine and has certainly made his self known in these last few weeks with coaches and parents! You have been a pleasure to coach well done little lad!
Well what can I say about this season, we have gone from a team who was all over the place, no discipline, no go forward with the ball, defence was shocking and we wasn't working as a team! We have just turned into a totally different team, we all know where we should be on the pitch and who covers where , we are a very well disciplined team, our attack is just awesome, our defence is stunning, we all now work for each other, our defence when it's on form is faultless and no one can get past us, our off loads are superb and some cracking tries have come from these! You all should be very proud how far you have come since the start of the season to now, we have had tears, tantrums, debates, messing about but more than anything though we have had a lot of laughs fun and happiness! You have all showcased some absolutely sublime rugby! We have gone through every stage possible but have all come out the other side into a cracking team! I say it every week but I'm proud of every single one of you, you have kept your heads held high and been a credit to me, Darren and your parents! Can't wait for next season and for you all go from strength to strength!

Today Pilks entertained a strong Orrel St James side in what was a really good game of rugby played in perfect conditions, between two evenly matched teams.
Pilks narrowly lost out 10-9 in a closely fought match. I have to say though, that every single one of the lads can hold their heads high in the knowledge that they did their coaches, parents and the club really proud.
Working with these boys was an absolute pleasure today, they're a great bunch of lads!
My captain was Aaron King. Aaron was really good for me today, he lead from the front, running really strongly, making vital meters for the team , and tackling really well. He also spilt blood for the cause, taking a bang to the mouth.
Also playing today was.
Noah Heaton, Noah had a great game today, running onto the ball really well and grabbing himself a try with one of his trademark ,mazy , jinking runs. He was also quickly off the line tackling everything that moved.
Ethan Cranny. Love this lads attitude to rugby, always has a smile on his face and gives his all every time he plays. Today Ethan scored an excellent try using every last ounce of his strength to go in at the corner. He also got stuck in, in defence, saving a certain try with a last ditch effort.
Billy Traynor. Billy spilled blood today after taking a bang to the face early on but toughed it out for the rest of the game and put on an excellent display both in attack and defence. Although he didn't score today he set up two try's with his off loads and as always he tackled brilliantly.
Max Fear. Max played an absolute brilliant game today. He did everything I asked of him, both with the ball, running strongly and making big meters, and without the ball, getting off the line quickly and making some big hits.
George Edmundson. George was another today who took a bang to the face the first time he took the ball in but bravely carried on for the rest of the game. he ran the ball in with his usual enthusiasm, making lots of meters and getting stuck in, in defence.
Harvey Cathcart. Again I love how this lad plays rugby with a smile on his face. Harvey runs onto the ball strongly at every opportunity and rarely takes a backward step. Harvey scored today with one of these runs. His defence was great as well.
Todays special awards went to:-
TOP TACKLER went to Bryn Edwards, wow! What a great little player. This is the first time I've worked with Bryn and for his size he really is a strong lad . Bryn ran well all game but his tackling was awesome , not just the amount of tackles but his technique was spot on every time.
I gave joint MAN OF THE MATCH to
Firstly Connor Stubbs, wow what a game he had . When this lad puts his mind to it he's almost unstoppable . Connor's strong running and support play rewarded him with a hat trick today. He also put his body on the line defending his try line.
Also I gave it to Josh Hunt . What can I say about this lad today apart from everything I asked him to do he did it really well. Love working with Josh because he always listens to what he's being told and takes it onto the pitch.
He also grabbed three try's and did some try saving tackles.
Honestly though I could have given out ten man of the match awards today as every one of the boys were in with a shout.
I'd like to thank Sarah King and Dave Massam for helping run the game today. Most of all the boys for making it so enjoyable.
WELL DONE BOYS KEEPIT UP!
