Pilks went all the way over to Oldham this week for a Saturday game of rugby!

Pilks started off slow this week, letting in a try within 6 seconds, the game was evenly matched in the first half with a 4/4 draw at half time.

Half time we all had a good talk, went back on and we was a lot better but still wasn't our 100% selfs!

Pilks managed to get a 2 try lead, as our defence stepped it up and Waterhead struggled to break our line, Pilks walking away with an 11/7 win... One of the tries was apparently said after the game that it wasn't a try and she wasn't giving it, I would love the person in question to step forward with her super league badge, oh sorry it's not super league is it my mistake! All tries was given as the ball was taken back to half way and the game re started, if the ref didn't give a try then correct me if I'm wrong but the ball should of been played from the last tackle!

Over all the second half was a lot better than the first, we managed to get the win but we do have a lot to work on with our defence!

Our captains today was, Logan Parr, Logan's defence today was brilliant, one tackle in particular that he made was one of the best tackles we've seen all season from Logan, awesome impact! (Logan this week We thought was auditioning for a show, some very dramatic falls to the floor ha!) Logan made an a fantastic off load to Jacob Davies sending him over for a brilliant try! well done Logan brilliant game!

Making his debut today for Pilks and Our second captain was shay varkulis, me and Alan thought u had a fantastic first game. You put in some brilliant attack, stepped up and played dummy half and was involved in tackles, putting in some good hits, this also gained shay man of the match! For your first game you showed some brilliant team work!

Top tackler went to Lewis Taylor, Lewis had a brilliant game in defence, some big hits going in as always on the wing! Leighton glover and Lewis certainly cover each other's backs, they go into tackles together and shut the opposition down, they are fantastic to watch and today was no different! Lewis, Rhys Crehan, Leighton glover made an awesome try saver, putting their bodies literally on the line, the strength and sheer determination on these 3 was outstanding to hold waterhead out! Lewis put in some brilliant attack and managed to go over in the corner! In the friendly against clock face lewis' defence was the best I've seen all season from him!
Well done Lewis brilliant game!

Coaches choice went to Rhys, firstly I just wanted to mention we played a friendly against clock face last week and Rhys made a quick thinking absolutely outstanding off load sending a child in for a try, Rhys could of scored this his self but not being selfish he made the off load! Rhys in today's game we thought was outstanding in defence putting in some big one on one hits on the bounce! Rhys and Jacob Davies are a fantastic duo on the wing cover each other's back! Rhys,Lewis Taylor & Leighton glover made an awesome try saver, putting their bodies literally on the line, the strength and sheer determination on these 3 was outstanding to hold waterhead out! Brilliant to watch well done Rhys fantastic game!

Parents choice with a landslide of votes went to Leighton glover, no surprise to me and Alan this week, Leighton's defence against clock face and today was absolutely outstanding! He is always there chasing players back and putting in some massive one on one hits! This didn't go un noticed by all the parents this week! I will say again Lewis Taylor and Leighton on the wing are a fantastic duo and cover each other's back! Leighton also went over this week for two tries! Leighton, Lewis Taylor & rhys Crehan made an awesome try saver, putting their bodies literally on the line, the strength and sheer determination on these 3 was outstanding to hold waterhead out!

Coaches choice went to Dylan finney, Dylan We thought had his best game so far this season, he was strong in attack, pulling his team out of a few scrapes when really they had no clue what was going on, Dylan ran the ball up strong and making cracking meters for them! In defence he made some cracking one on one tackles this week.

Jacob Davies, Jacob as always had a brilliant game in defence, making some awesome try savers! Always first to put his body on the line! Jacob went over for a fantastic hat trick this week,
One try coming from an awesome off load from Logan Parr, Rhys Crehan and Jacob work together on the wing and make a brilliant duo, fantastic game Jacob well done!

Dylan Greenall, Dylan went over for a fantastic hat trick this week, one try coming from an outstanding off load from Josh Crilly! Helped his team when he could in defence! Brilliant attack!

Harry Williams, Harry had a brilliant game in attack and went over for a cracking try! Harry helped his team out when needed in defence, well done Harry fantastic game!

Zack Kilgannon, Zack had another brilliant game in defence this week! Zacks attack was equally as strong and went over in the corner for a fantastic try! Well done Zack fantastic game!

Ethan bold, Ethan had a great game in attack and ran strong with ball! In defence he helped his team when needed! Fantastic game Ethan well done!

Josh Crilly, Josh had another fantastic game this week making some big one on one tackles, his attack was equally as strong but just couldn't break that Waterhead defence, did make a cracking off load to Dylan Greenall to send him in for he try, fantastic game Josh well done!

Ellis Carsley, Ellis ran strong with the ball this week, on one run he ran down the wing and we thought he was going to get over that try line but got caught into touch, unlucky! Ellis paired up with Logan this week in defence and We thought had a brilliant game defensively!

Dan Keogh, Dan had an awesome game today in all areas, his was brilliant in attack and ran strong with ball! Defensively This was one of dans best performances, he was all over the pitch making some cracking one on one hits, was always in helping his team when they needed him also! These last three weeks I can't fault any of dans performances he's been awesome!

Josh Larkin, Josh was running strong in attack and ran the ball up strong, in defence he was there helping his team when ever he was needed, Josh always listens and brings to the field what we ask, well done Josh fantastic game!

Awards was close this week. if I'm honest we looked at the top three parents choice and made our decisions around this as it was a very hard call who to pick as I think at least 6 kids could of walked away with an award!

Every child put something Into the win this week, but I do think we have a lot to work on in defence and more than anything with our team play, I think sometimes we work individually rather than as a team in attack and defence, the lads need some work on remembering there is no ”I” in team but this is something we can work on!

I have included every child in my comments because as I say we are a team and its not a sole responsibility, we win, lose and draw as a team!
