Fantastic team work!

Pilks started off with a minutes applause for Ronan Costello, R.I.P. Our thoughts go to Ronan's family and friends at this sad time.

Pilks was back to their usual self this week.
We started off for the first time this season on a high with quick plays of the ball and the offloads was just awesome, as each set came on the spirits was high, and the off loads was getting better as the game went on.

Blackbrook put in some fantastic tackles but we just proved a bit too strong for them as we have that extra bit of experience as we have already played a season, all the same the coaches and kids was a pleasure to play!

This week we decided to take away run numbers and let the game do a lot more of its own flowing, we had first receivers in each set who had the decision to pass the ball or run with it if they seen the gaps, I have to say 90% they chose the off load and the ball got passed down the line and we was rewarded with the points.

This week was all about team work and I think we had some fantastic team
Work on display, the game flowed a lot better, the line was set out waiting for the ball to be passed down rather than just a clump of kids getting in each other's ways. Every child who played first receiver today was fantastic, I know all the first receivers took extra runs more than they should, some came up with points on the board some didn't, runs average out at around 2 to each child and I think most managed to get this the lads was told if they seen a gap then they could go for it! Taking the run numbers away and the kids just passing the ball to the player who was in support worked brilliantly for us this week and I think we showed just how much talent we have in U7s!

I think it's very fair to say that all the kids worked as a team and was all fantastic with their ball passing skills and defence!

Captain today was Dan Keogh, Dan lead from the front this week and was fantastic in attack and defence. Dan went over for two cracking tries this week and made some awesome off loads and some superb one on one tackles! Dan walked away with a very well deserved coaches choice award, Well done Dan fantastic team work!

Our other captain was Dylan Greenall, Dylan I thought had another brilliant game this week in defence, he was up there not always able to take the lads down but he was up stopping the players and his team came in and helped get them down which is what it's all about. I have to mention on how u off loaded the ball and sent Dan Keogh in for a try was fantastic and I'm very proud of you! Well done Dylan fantastic team work!

We did change parents choice this week and gave the winner man of the match as this is what was asked with both trophies and we agreed!

Man of the match went to Lewis Taylor, Lewis in defence was absolutely outstanding, he worked every single second of his time on that pitch and made some superb one on one tackles, his on line defence was fantastic, off his line quick and taking black brook into touch on the bounce making sure they couldn't cross that white wash!
Lewis attacked the line and then off loaded the ball which is what I asked as first receiver and he made some fantastic off loads! Lewis went over for a cracking hat trick although one run he did take extra, which was one run and u do have to remember they are seven years of age, your defence certainly made up for this! Taking nothing away on just how outstanding he played for his team today! Well done Lewis fantastic team work!

Top tackler went to shay varkulis, shay if I'm honest has had a brilliant last at least three weeks at pilks, he came today and put in a full shift of outstanding defence, he was first up off his line and stopping the players, making some outstanding one on one tackles was just awesome! In attack shay ran strong with the ball and made some outstanding off loads one of which he sent Dylan Greenall over the line! Well done shay Fantastic team work!

Coaches choice went to Logan Parr, Logan we thought had a fantastic game this week, he took the first run up and made some brilliant meters for his team. Logan in defence again was awesome he made some fantastic one on one tackles and to be honest he has done for the last few weeks. Logan is certainly coming out of his shell and turning into a fantastic forward for pilks!
Well done Logan fantastic team work!

Parent choice went to Elliott Davies, this is only Elliott's second game so far but he is fitting in with ease! Elliott put in some fantastic defence against blackbrook. Elliott is only 6 so our youngest and smallest player on the pitch but he only went and gained his self his very first try for pilks, what a fantastic little try in the corner! I believe there was tears all round! I always knew it was you teaching that brother of yours his moves Ha! Well done Elliott you have played yet again another outstanding performance and showed some fantastic team work!

Also scoring for pilks this week was,

Bryn Edwards, bryn went over for a brilliant try which came from a cracking off load by Zak Atherton( well done Zak by far your best off load of the season)! Bryn was equally as strong in defence as always, well done bryn fantastic team work!

Joseph Morris, Joseph went over for a fantastic try this week. Joseph's defence is what always impresses the coaches and today was no different making some outstanding one on one tackles, well done Joseph fantastic team work!

Jacob Davies, Jacob went over for two fantastic tries this week. Jacob as always was outstanding in defence and made some superb one one try savers! Well done Jacob fantastic team work!

Dylan Finney, Dylan again this week was brilliant in defence! In attack Dylan ran strong with the ball and went over for a cracking try in the corner!
Well done Dylan fantastic team work!

Josh Crilly, Josh was another child who was first receiver and again is a seven year old child so will take the extra run if he sees the gap. This takes nothing away from the awesome two tries he scored one being from a cracking off load from Zack Kilgannon! In defence Josh was strong and making some fantastic one on one tackles!
Well done Josh fantastic team work!

Also playing this week was, Leighton glover, Rhys Crehan, Harry Williams, Zak Atherton, Ethan Bold, zack Kilgannon, Josh Larkin, Ellis Carsley, Aidan Houghton!

Well done lads you all played fantastic as a team and all of you was involved in some fantastic ball skills this week, the support play was just immense!

What made it the best game we have played for me was every single child ended that game with big smiles on their faces and that's why us coaches do what we do and what rugby is all about! Well done lads very proud of you all this week!
