Pilks went to bank quay Bulls this week,
I know everyone was unsure of this fixture with what happened last season but I have to say the U7s coach is an absolute Credit to the club, all the kids and parents had a fantastic morning of rugby!
Being honest I don't think our defence in places is as strong as it could be, i know we had some ferocious tackling in parts and some outstanding off loads and I will applaud you all on your fantastic team work today, I just know if we quit this messing in training and on the side lines we can be solid all over in defence!
Banks quay give us a cracking game of rugby, they put in some awesome defence, off loads and chasing players down.
I have to say this "no runs" is proving the best thing we have done for U7s up to now, every single child played as a team today, again we had first receivers a couple did take the glory but they did then let others have the glory also. Like I say it won't run perfect every week nothing ever does its U7s they are just starting out, but it's a hell of a lot better than when we had kids bunching and arguing who's run it was, now we have the line set out and all the kids looking for a man to pass it too it isn't just about getting the ball and go over that white wash anymore, the kids are thinking well who else can I pass the ball to and get praise for doing so! I'm proud of how much the U7s have adapted so quick to change but more than anything I'm super proud of each and every one of you on how you are working with each other on that pitch! You are a team and working as a unit, I could never ask any more of you, I will though ha!
Captain today was Zak Atherton, Zak I thought had a really good game today, Zak put in some brilliant defence and a couple of cheeky off loads, well done Zak brilliant game!
Man of the match was shay varkulis, shay I thought had his best game so far for us, he was up there on every tackle making some fantastic one on one tackles, in one set of 6 shay was first up their to make 4/6 on the bounce, one outstanding tackle in particular where shay went straight round the legs stopping banks quay in their tracks. In attack shay ran strong with the ball, but it was shays defence and off loads that gained him this award as we thought he was outstanding, shay is certainly making his self known in the U7s and has a very bright future ahead of him in rugby!
well done shay brilliant game again this week!
Top tackler was Jacob Davies, Jacob gained this award as we thought he put his body on the line for his team, one tackle in particular that left banks quay wondering what day it was! Jacob ran strong with the ball and gained his self two fantastic tries this week! Our little superman was back in defence and attack this week!
Well done Jacob brilliant game!
Parents choice was Zack Kilgannon, Zack we thought had an outstanding game in defence this week, Zack tackles around the legs every time which isn't easy to keep making a tackle hitting the floor and getting back up quick on ur line waiting for the next but these last few weeks Zack has made it looks easy! Zack was brilliant in attack and went over for an awesome try! This didn't go unnoticed by the parents who chose you for their award! Brilliant game Zack well done!
Coaches choice went to Logan Parr, Logan gained this award as we thought he had an outstanding game driving the ball forward for his team, I asked Logan to take the ball and run it up hard, he did just that taking players across the field with him making some outstanding meters for his team. Logan did everything I asked and more, you had a brilliant game Logan well done!
Coaches choice went to Josh Larkin, Josh gained this Award as we think he did brilliant in attack, we asked him to take the ball and run hard with it, Josh did exactly as we asked, he took the ball ran straight and hard, even tho he had 6 of the 7 players pushing him back Josh wouldn't give up pushing forward we even seen some friendly aggression from Josh as he pushing forward was just awesome! Well done Josh brilliant game!
Our try scorers this week was
Jacob Davies 2
Leighton glover 2
Dylan Greenall
Bryn Edwards
Joseph Morris
Zack kilgannon
Dan Keogh
Rhys Crehan
Aidan houghton
Also playing this week was, Isaac Heyes, Ellis Carsley, Lewis Taylor, Harry Williams, Josh Crilly & Elliott Davies!
We didn't really want to dwell to much on tries or certain performances this week apart from trophies as We thought you really did mix and gel as a team this week and it was really hard who to pick for any awards you all played so well for each other. We had some outstanding passes even an out the back door pass, we seen some cracking tries made from the teams off loads this week and we seen some slam dunking tackles! We thought every single one of you deserved man of the match! We're proud of how far you have all come and how quick you all learn no matter what I throw at you, We do try different things probably sometimes things we won't need until a couple of season but it's good to change things around and see where you all work best and what We can bring out in each and every one of you, some things will work some things won't but it's all fun along the way!
The "no runs" is something We was just trying for a week but it's working that well and got you all playing so well as a team We are keeping this rule with U7s as We speak for more than anything all the kids, me, Alan and the parents on this one!
When it's becoming harder as coaches to even pick just one trophy then obviously something is working and that is you're all as one now and you're all working for each other making it extra hard for us to pick anyone!
We have such a big squad and you all sacrifice game time to stay with me, Alan and the U7s here at pilks, I couldn't be any prouder of you all!
Pilks little super stars!
