Pilks played crosfield vipers this week, we ran 2 games and lent crosfields a few of our players which meant most kids got full game times, i did have three subs to make it easier for Alan to run his game as he didn't have any one helping the interchanges!
All in all I think we can say that this week was a cracking game of rugby for all involved, crosfields have fantastic coaches parents and kids, all that any one was bothered about was getting kids playing regardless of the outcome, exactly how it should Be!
Some of our kids showed true sportsman ship when they went on the pitch for the away team and we seen some cracking defence and tries put in for crosfields, every single child is a credit to me and Alan but these kids was absolute stars to play for the away team and run tries in all over helping them get a draw against their own team is commendable and I couldn't be any prouder of you all! The same for the lads in my game who played for crosfields they managed to rack up three tries for them and I commend you all for being a true sport and I couldn't be any prouder of you all! More importantly you all showed what pilks U7s is all about and that's having fun and playing a cracking game of rugby, was lovely to see all the smiles on every child's face this week!
Alan's write up first
Yesterday pilks entertained crossfields on a hot day, pilks came with 20 players so we played 2 games, crosfields in my game only had 5 players so we agreed with crossfield coach to lend two of our players till half time then changed over and it meant more game time for every one.
So i had a game plan but the pilks team had other ideas and you no we dont have run numbers anymore i let the players play as individual's which they were happy to do so, pilks were strong in certain areas Defence And Attack the only thing that was lacking in the game was passing the ball to one another, some of the team did pass the ball And one player did it regualy in the game which earned him the coaches award, which went to Rhys crehan did everything i asked and scored 3 trys for crosfields.
Man other match went to Isaac Heyes took the ball near the try line and went over carring 3 defenders on him to score a great try, his first this year!
Others did very well in attack and defence Harry Williams capt, Dylan Finney, Bryn Edwards, Zak Atherton, Ethan Bold & Aidan Houghton.
All the team contributed in a good performance well done Boys
My game!
Captain was Josh Larkin, Josh lead from the front this week who went and played the first 10 minutes for crosfields, put in some very strong attack and some great defence for crosfields and for pilks. You had a brilliant game this week Josh well done!
Coaches choice went to Shay Varkulis, shay again this week played a fantastic game of rugby, went over for his very first try for pilks this week with a fantastic partnership with Lewis Taylor working with shay to send him over! You boys showed not only how much you worked as a team but how much you talk to each other on that pitch in only U7s is applaudable! You are stunning to watch! Shay was again awesome in defence and was all over the pitch putting in some cracking defence! Shay was fantastic in every aspect of the game this week!
Well done shay brilliant game!
Top tackler went to Ellis Carsley, this lad at the start of this season was really unconfident playing rugby, Ellis knows I backed him 100% and knew what he was capable of, I have been working with Ellis to take that ball and run through and his confidence these last few weeks is really high and its showing in his game, in attack he's running at players and not giving up but it's his defence that's been impressive, this week especially Ellis was first up and making contact, making some awesome big one on one tackles on the bounce! I don't know what game your mum and dad was watching but you put in some outstanding defence this week! More importantly for me it was lovely to see your confidence on a high and the massive smile On your face!
Brilliant game Ellis well done!
Coaches choice went to, Elliott Davies, Elliott had an awesome game this week, Elliott has only played a few games for us so far this season and is our only year 1, watching him play you wouldn't think he is the smallest and youngest on that pitch, he put in some stunning one on one tackles this week, which was two fantastic try savers! Elliott came up against his brother Jacob Davies this week as Jacob played for crosfields for us, Everyone was routing for Elliott, he was ready, ball was played and we seen Jacob run around away from his brother ( see we knew he was scared of you ha!)
well done Elliott fantastic defence and a brilliant game!
The lads who played with me this week showed some stunning ball skills but most pleasing for me was how you all played as a team and worked every single play for each other, you was tackling in twos and threes and it was awesome to watch you all, was lovely to see all your smiles and how happy you all was, it's what it's all about for us coaches!
Also playing this week was Zack Kilgannon, Lewis Taylor, Dylan Greenall, Dan Keogh, Leighton Glover, Logan Parr & Jacob Davies, you all made today a fantastic game and all put in a full shift with fantastic attack and defence!
All 21 players in U7s are a pleasure to coach and a credit to me and Alan!
