Pilkington Recs v Shevington

.

Pilks was at home this week to shevington.

Some of the lads played shevington in the festival a couple of weeks previous and knew they was a very well drilled, tough, hard hitting side, the lads knew they was in for a tough game!

I have to say how outstanding all the lads was in defence, we absolutely played as a team yesterday!

Taking nothing away from shevington as they're a brilliant, well coached team, they have some big hard hitting lads, but our lads did us coaches, parents and the club proud yesterday it's the best I've ever seen the lads work as team, behaviour was outstanding and it just shows what we can achieve when we cut the messing and work together, Pilks being aggressive in attack and defence to be honest I think ruffled shevington and we didn't see the fire they had in the festival, we certainly seen it in Pilks U7s and it went on to win them the game!

It wasn't the score line that impressed me yesterday, it was every single lads attitude, the way they moved up as a team and went into tackles as 3/4s, we ran hard with the ball not taking a backward step, no matter what was thrown at us the lads kept their cool and stood firm as a team, the unselfishness of the lads was applaudable, they didn't care about going over their selfs they seen the space and got the ball out wide sending their team mates over, this was throughout the full game from all the lads. 32 kids came off happy and that's all that matters!

Alan has done his own write up this week so I will add his first, Alan had the choice with how many trophies he wanted and which ones he wanted to pick, he chose two coaches choice.

Today pilks entertained shevington at home and the weather was ideal for a good game of rugby pilks turned up in numbers so we ran 2 games. todays Captain was ethan bold. pilks won the toss so pilks elected to attack, pilks was good in some areas of play but took a while to get into the swing of things, I can say we were good in attack but defence in some areas was suspect and this we need to work on in training. The support play was good, yet again in areas. We really need to start passing the ball out alot more and play like a team. I would like to say about the attack, some good Trys was delivered today with Dylan Finney long range try bryn edwards taking on the line to score, both lads taking the coaches choice awards. well done.
other try scorers was Dylan Greenall, rhys crehan, joseph morris, Josh Larkin.
other team players who contributed in helping in the defence and attack isaac Heyes, Zak Atherton, Ethan Bold. I would like to say considering shevington was a big side pilks did a decent job today and all the players enjoyed it so well done boys.

Now mine,

Our captain today was shay varkulis, shay also walked away with a very well deserved top tackler award! Shay certainly took on the captain role and had an outstanding game in defence, he was first off his line stopping shevington in their tracks . Shay got his team working in 3/4s in defence and I have to say how solid they was, online defence especially!
He was equally as strong In attack
And ran the ball up hard making some cracking meters for his team. Shay is consistent every week and always works hard for his team! Shays new quote is "temper temper" ( he knows what I mean ha) You was outstanding well done shay!

Man of the match went to, Elliott davies, Elliott gained man of the match as he is only six years of age, our smallest and youngest in the team, playing against a big shevington side I wasn't sure how Elliot would go, he was absolutely awesome, he put in a couple of super one on one tackles! Elliott had a cracking set of lads behind him who had his back at all times, I was proud at how all the lads came in to cover Elliott throughout the game! You had an outstanding game well done Elliott!

Coaches choice went to Dan Keogh, Dan gained this award as his cover play was outstanding, Dan went over for an awesome hat trick today! One from half way taking the shevington defence on, made the break down the wing and went crashing over for a try, his two others came from smart thinking from Both Lewis and Dan, Lewis took the line on, dan covered Lewis, Lewis making the passes out wide sending Dan over for two more awesome tries! Brilliant team work! On line defence was fantastic! You had an outstanding game well done!

Jacob davies got shevingtons man of the match for his awesome attack( going over for a cracking hat trick) and outstanding defence, on line defence especially! which I have to agree as Jacob was up their for a trophy! Well done Jacob outstanding game!

Isaac Heyes also gained shevingtons man of the match as he agreed to play for them and they thought he put in some fantastic work! Well done Isaac awesome game!

I just want to mention before I go on to the rest of the lads, a little lad who comes to training every week, rain or shine, no matter what gets thrown at him he never complains and gets on with it. He listens to everything I say and puts 100% into everything I ask of him! He has bags and bags of heart, he absolutely loves the game! It was asked yesterday who would play for shevington and none of the lads would put their hands up apart from one, yes it was Josh Larkin, he played the first half for shevington and had an outstanding game, he had 3/4 of his own team straight on him, never once grumbled Infact he pushed and pushed to make meters for them, he helped them out in defence working as a team, he played any position that was asked of him and I think he deserves some recognition for his awesome team spirit, without him we couldn't of ran the two games!
You was outstanding Josh and deserve a massive applause, I'm very proud of you!

Also playing was,

Leighton Glover, Leighton I thought had an awesome game in defence, chasing players back and making some cracking one on one tackles, on line defence was outstanding! in attack Leighton was strong and made some brilliant off loads, also going over for an awesome try in the corner!
Well done Leighton outstanding game!

Lewis Taylor, I thought Lewis had an outstanding game in attack this week, his unselfishness was second to none, he attacked the line and could of gone for his self but he seen some awesome support play from Dan, seen he was out wide and made a cracking long range pass out wide to send Dan over on two occasions was just phenomenal, Lewis has some amazing vision for 7 years of age! In defence Lewis was strong especially his on line defence was solid with his team! Well done Lewis outstanding game!

Logan Parr, Logan had a cracking game in attack and defence this week, Logan wasn't too good this week with his chest but you would never of thought it, Infact this was one of Logan's best games! Logan ran onto the ball at speed and crashed his way through shevington defence to score near enough a full length try was just outstanding! Logan was brilliant in defence and put in some awesome tackles for Pilks, Logan's on line defence with his team was fantastic! You had an outstanding game Logan well done!

Aidan houghton, Aidan went over for two cracking tries for Pilks this week, Aidan's defence is what impresses the coaches as he puts in some fantastic one on one tackles! He's on line defence with his team was awesome! You had an outstanding game Aidan well done!

Zack Kilgannon, Zack had a fantastic game for Pilks this week in attack and defence. Zack seen a gap took the shevington defence on, made a break and went sprinting down the wing for near enough a full length try in the corner, was superb! Zack in defence was superb making some fantastic try savers, his on line defence with his team was awesome! You had an outstanding game Zack well done!

Ellis carsley, Ellis had a fantastic game in attack and defence this week, Ellis ran hard with the ball crashing through shevington defence, making some cracking meters for his team, Ellis' on line defence with his team was just awesome! Well done Ellis you had an outstanding game!
