Pilks today hosted our last home
Match of the season.
I think being honest there was plus' and minus' from today and as the kids coach I always want to keep it honest and real with them as much as possible! I may have a way with words sometimes (I am human) but I mean well with everything I do and say and always have the lads best interests at heart!!
I thought we stood back a lot today and allowed West Bank to make too many meters so early on in the tackle count. We was defending our own line from sometimes tackle 2, taking nothing away from West Bank they was a lot smarter with the ball than us, they ran hard and when hitting traffic they got the ball passed out and gained some brilliant try's! I think with us in parts we wasn't running onto the ball and we was bunching to much for the ball to be passed out wide to find space! How ever when we did get the lads to spread out in some parts of the game they came up with some fantastic runs and some fantastic tries. Defensively I think in parts we did really good and parts we left our selfs wide open. Today only makes it a brilliant learning curve for me and Alan that we can now see areas we need to work on and will do so in training!
Captain was Aidan Houghton, Aidan I thought had a brilliant game, was good in defence and put in some brilliant tackles. In attack he ran hard with the ball, going over for two great try's . One of his tries we seen Logan Parr get then ball out and Aidan with his quick thinking he picked the ball up and went for near enough a full length try, having a quick look back making sure he wasn't wasting his energy ha! Walking away with a well deserved top tackler award! Fantastic Aidan well done!
Captain was Dylan Finney, Dylan I thought had a good game in attack, ran hard with the ball and managed to sneak over for a brilliant try! Always helping his team in defence when needed! Well done Dylan fantastic game!
Man of the match went to Zak Atherton, I thought Zak put a lot of heart into his runs today, he was taking the ball and looking for the gaps, getting caught short on a couple of occasions. We did see Zak's head go down but after having a word and telling him not to give up keep his head up and run hard, his next run he took the ball, seen the gap and dove for the line! We have finally perfected the dive over the line! Well done Zak fantastic game!
Coaches choice from West Bank went to Josh Crilly. West Bank coach came and asked to give their choice to josh for his brilliant little side steps and his strong running! Well done josh fantastic game!
Coaches choice went to Logan parr, Logan gained my choice as I thought he ran hard with the ball and put in some fantastic runs and make great meters for his team. Logan was looking for the off load which is always pleasing to see! Logan in defence put in some massive hits today, very impressive!
Well done Logan fantastic game!
Parent choice went to Ellis Carsley, Ellis from my point of view gained this award for his hard forward running and not giving up, brilliant determination, managing to go over for two fantastic tries! Well done Ellis fantastic game!
