Pilks hosted to a very well drilled Leigh Miners side, their defence was awesome. ours at times was really good but we need to work a lot on holding our shape and tackling in 2s and 3s. We played the new rules of knock ons and into touch, I can’t praise the team enough on how well they kept hold of the ball and my biggest praise goes to into touch, as a team I can’t fault you, you grouped and took Leigh into touch on numerous occasions. For our first game we have lots we can work on but I’m proud of you all on how well you played considering we have played no warm up games you was brilliant with the new rules.
It was basically try for try today and we came up to last set, pilks had to score. With some good passing, great hands and good reading of the game we managed to get Miners off guard and go over, coming away 8-7, how ever I think a draw would of been equally as pleasing as both teams was a credit to their coaches and Miners gave us a fantastic, nail biting game.
Making their debut was Emily topping, Emily did well for her first game, she was given a job of dummy half and give it her best. We will work with Emily and I’m sure she will pick it up in no time. Proud of you Emily well done, keep it up!
Captain was Dylan Greenall, Dylan had a good first game back and made some brilliant first impact tackles, which stopped miners running away with it down the wing. Proud of you well done, Keep it up.
Captain was Kieron manweiler, fantastic strong running forward with the ball, your really having a good go and more than anything you run straight and hard. This didn’t go un-noticed by the coaches. Proud of you keep it up!
Man of the match went to Jacob Davies, I really thought Jacob stood up in this first game back and really ran hard, working his socks off running forward crashing through the defence. He made some fantastic yards for us this week leaving us right near the line on our 1st tackle. His defence was superb and made some brilliant one on ones. Jacob got hurt but he got back up, had a break and came back on proud of you Jacob, you did us and your team proud. Keep it up well done !
Top tackler went to Joseph Morris, Joseph put in bags of work for his team this week, his defence was awesome he made some fantastic try saving tackles. He did some brilliant one on ones and stopped us trailing with a bigger score line meaning pilks managed to hold out Miners. Jospeh took a knock but he didn’t let anyone down he put his hand straight back up and came on for us. In attack Joseph was strong and went over for an easy try! Proud of you, Keep it up well done!
Players player went to Logan Parr, Logan had a fantastic game in attack, running strong with the ball. I have to give this lad massive credit in reading the game so well and knowing where the ball was going to end up, he didn’t just end up there he got in position and made a call for it, brilliant hands and went crashing over for five tries this week. Proud of you, Keep it up well done!
Parent choice went to Lewis Taylor, listening to all parents Lewis was given this award for his passing, it was said they couldn’t fault him he was great and managed to exploit Miners line on more than one occasion. Some great passing from Lewis to Logan sending him in for some great tries, brilliant team work. Keep up reading the game, proud of you, Well done keep it up!
