Brilliant team effort.

Pilks hosted to golborne this week running two games to give the kids more game time and a better game for them.

I was referee this week so rick has done the write up for the lads.
I just want to say how outstanding every child play this week. Both games gave a fantastic effort.

Ricks.

Golborne certainly gave us a game this week and I can’t fault the coaches they was fantastic and have a very well drilled awesome hitting side. We was challenged in areas this week and I think both teams stood up and put in what was a phenomenal game of rugby. Every child and coach was the winners.

Captain was Shay Varkulis and Also our top tackler this week.
This lad is an absolute workhorse always looking for work in both attack and defence and always willing to take the difficult balls in off his own line. Shay took a heavy tackle early on causing swelling to one eye and a dead leg but he wanted to come back on and still lead from the front in defence leading the line up, good shoulder contact and effectively wrapping the ball up with a squeeze to reduce the offloads. Shay was asked to recognise the danger players and shut their game down with his defence and he did that. Cannot wait until we can scoot off the back of Shays quick plays of the balls. Well done shay.

man of the match was harry Williams, Harry similarly to Shay is always willing to take the difficult balls off his own line and work hard in defence. Harry recognised the danger players and closed their game down. Harry like Lewis and Jacob performed some really effective try saving tackles and is always willing to work hard. Great running and tackling today keep it up. Scored a fantastic try, Well done harry good all round game.

Parents choice was Dylan Greenall,
This lad tackles well above his weight, not afraid to take on the big lads sticking his shoulder straight into the ball and holds the tackle until a team mate comes and helps complete the tackle. One thing that was inpresssive about Dylan today was for one of the smallest lads on the field he was willing to take the hard drive off his own line and even managed to break through the defence and score nearly a full length try. Now that he has try scoring out of his system his game has become more rounded and he is improving week on week. Remember speed and footwork at the line and you will be difficult to stop but the coaches are very impressed with your defensive efforts of late. Well done Dylan.

Players player was shared this week with a draw between Lewis & Jacob.

Jacob
Jacob ran the ball up fast and hard this week making some fantastic metres for his team. The opposition to close him down resorted to high tackles. Proud of Jacob this week as he channeled his frustration and pain into positives this week taking a bad tackle and then two tackles later barging over the line. His goal line defence was great today with some fantastic try savers showing great technique that we have been coaching into the lads. Scored a fantastic try, Well done Jacob.

Lewis
This lads decision making is absolutely awesome for 9 years of age. Lewis today had a really fantastic well rounded game he knew when to pass, when to show and go resulting in some great breaks, a fantastic try and setting many of is team up to cross the whitewash. Lewis is also very consistent in his defence with some great 1-1 try saving tackles and shows great technique in wrapping the ball up preventing the offload. Lewis is the ultimate team player and it’s great to see him grow each week. We ask a lot of this lad in terms of organising on the field we are sure he will get more vocal and even better at this as his confidence grows. Great game Lewis.

Also playing this week was,

Ben Looker, you was asked to put in some big tackles for us this week, you stood up and was counted in a really tough game, your best defensive effort to date. Run straight and hard you will be difficult to stop this season.
Well done Ben.

Ellis Carsley, came from one game to the other brimming with confidence and because of this he put in some awesome tackles, your best defensive effort to date. Well done Ellis.

Bryn Edwards. Made some good metres for his team and when he connects in defence it hurts. With a little more confidence this season you can really showcase your potential. Well done bryn.

Aidan Houghton, Some good defence on display today, especially on your own line and made some good metres for his team. Well done Aidan.

Joseph Morris, Good footwork displayed today, Remember to go forwards and use ur great footwork at the line. Confidence is growing every week in defence. Scored a brilliant try. Well done Joseph.

Logan Parr, This lads defence was brilliant this week his best to date,he was moving up like we’ve asked just need to ensure you remain onside. Logan always runs hard but his defence impressed us the most this week. Well done Logan.

Well done boys your goal line defence was absolutely awesome. I look forward to watching you all grow through out the season.

Alan.
Today Pilks entertained a well drilled Golborne side and great coaches, Both club had enough kids to run 2 games which meant more game time and we matched the team to the opposition which meant we got the best development for every player and it really showed every child came off beaming smiles and brimming with confidence. Not to burst our bubbles but for once (ha) everyone agreed the coaches got it right and was more than happy with their child’s game.
Before we kicked off I said to all the players I’m not bothered about tries I want some good solid defence, they certainly delivered. Attack good. Moving up in the line in defence. A lot of tries was scored through passing the ball down the line. With the players knowing the new rules with a turn over if in touch the lads used it to their advantage on numerous occasions.

Man of the match Zak atherton for, Zak Reminds me of an Australian centre Reg Gasnier played great today this kid in defence some awesome 1-1 tackles. Scored a great try. It was Zak’s defence that earned him man o the match and I bet some of the opposition are feeling it. I hope he repeats this performance going forward. Well done Zak.

Top tackler went to Dylan Finney, this lad rolled his sleeves up today and got stuck in, made many meters for his team mates and passed the ball down the line. His defence was brilliant but it was his technique that gained him this award, spot on. Very good performance Dylan keep it up.

Isaac Heyes, played well today scoring a great hat trick. Defence was better this week, areas we need to work on but we can do this in training.
Well done Isaac.

Ethan Bold. Scored a great try defence was better this week, areas we need to work on but we can work on this in training. Well done Ethan.

Josh Crilly our captain today scored a great try has his team mates running off him, defence was good today, well done josh.

Josh Larkin, Today scored a great try, defence was better today but areas we need to work on and we can work on this in training.
Well done josh.

Dan keogh, played on the wing kept out of touch, came inside and scored a cracking try. Decent in defence today. Well done dan

Rhys crehan, This lads been around a long time, reads the game well, contributed in good defence. Scored a great try straight along the line, great footwork this kid has. Well done Rhys.

Emily topping, tried her best had 2 great runs, kept hold of the ball in attack and passed the ball out to her team mates, well done Emily.

Kieron manweiler, played well in attack and defence intact he saved a cracking try in the corner with a one on one tackle, that takes some doing, took a Knock but carried for his team. Well done kieron.

I just want to say these kids performance was much better this week and the game really suited them I hope now we have gained some great confidence we can take this into our next game. Well done boys and Emily.
