Today pilks went over to Leigh this time to play Leigh east lions, the parents and coaches I have to say was everything you want at this age they was brilliant with the kids.
Leigh east certainly gave us a fantastic game of rugby.
First 10 we seen some great defence from both sides. We did turn over possession a couple of times and Leigh took full advantage and went over the line for a great try. Pilks soon responded with a great try from Logan Parr, making the score 1-1
Second 10 we seen some great running and defence from both sets of lads, Leigh managed to put in some great contact with pilks forcing the knock on quite a few times and taking full advantage to go over for two more tries making it 3-1 at half time.
Third 10. Pilks didn’t let their heads go down and was all working for each other, Joseph Morris gave a fantastic ball to dan keogh and we seen him go sprinting down the wing for a great try in the corner. Leigh hit back with another great try making it 4-2 to Leigh.
Fourth 10, pilks really did put in some outstanding defence forcing the knock on and brilliant attack in this last 10. Pilks with some fantastic footwork and sheer determination seen Jacob Davies go over the line making it 4-3 to Leigh, spirits was high all the lads really dug deep for each other, We seen Jacob Davies and Lewis Taylor make an awesome try saver holding Leigh out to which they changed wings and Dylan Greenall then made an awesome one on one again saving the try. Pilks held Leigh out with some great defence forcing knock ons and goal line defence was fantastic. We then seen Logan Parr with some awesome strength and determination go crashing over the line to make it 4-4. Leigh ball and pilks needed to hold them out which the lads did and every child on the side line was cheering their team and giving them every bit of support they could. Pilks held Leigh out and the last set was with us, again the lads on the side was all supporting their team mates and we came to the 3rd tackle with Dylan Greenall who with great footwork shrugged off a few players hit his speed and went sailing over, the lads on the side knew their was no stopping him and all ran over to congratulate him with smiles from ear to ear. That was the game 5-4 to pilks.
I have to say how awesome Leigh east lions was, their defence and attack was fantastic and it was a great performance on show. I have to applaud their no 7 who was outstanding in defence and was tackling everything that came in his grasp. For the amount of effort all the lads put in a draw would of been a fair result also, well done lads.
Trophies was
Man of the match was split this week between Logan Parr and Aidan houghton.
Aidan as always put in some fantastic covering tackles, his goal line defence was equally as strong. He made great meters for pilks this week,. This lad never complains he just comes on does everything we ask and always puts in a fantastic performance for us. Aidan is consistent week in week out and the team Know they can always rely on him. Well done Aidan.
Logan Parr, Logan certainly ran like a forward today and it was nice to see you with a smile on your face and giving everything you had, you bulldozed your way over the line on both occasions today, even when you didn’t manage to get over you was back to making awesome meters for your team. Your defence was back at its best this week with you making some crucial one on ones and being our wall when they came crashing at you. Well done Logan.
Parents choice again this week was Jacob Davies, no one could argue this lads team spirit, he put his body on the line and really did give everything he had and more. Not only did he defend like a warrior and I mean he put in some big tackles forcing the knock on he also made awesome meters for us. Jacob also when his team mate knocked on just went over patted him on the shoulder and said its ok (yes I seen it) massively proud of you for this as you gave that child the encouragement he needed to keep his head held high and know it’s ok, we have your back. Well done Jacob.
Players player was Dylan Greenall. Dylan has been fantastic all season for us, he’s put in some outstanding tackles so far this season. Today he made a great try saver on his own line and for one of our littlest players it was awesome to see. Dylan ran as a forward a couple of times today and made fantastic meters for us. Dylan is always best when he can use his footwork and speed so when he got the ball on the 3rd he did exactly this, shrugging off at least 3 Leigh players to hit his speed and go crashing over for the last try of the game. His team mates all ran over and congratulated him and he gained his self a victory wound, not that he was bothered. We did have a little laugh at Dylan who responded to the pile on, it went dark and I was shouting for help but no one could hear me (ha). Well done Dylan.
Joseph Morris, Joseph was fantastic in defence this week and made some crucial tackles to stop Leigh go over that line, he also made some awesome covering tackles. In attack Joseph ran hard with the ball and was trying cheeky little dummies which gained us great meters on one of Joseph’s ball he managed to break but Leigh came for him so he got an awesome ball to dan keogh to send him sprinting down the wing for the try. Team spirit was fantastic today Joseph well done.
U9’S team spirit was brilliant today and the lads really did work for each other and everyone put in bags of work. Proud of every single one of you, you kept your heads held high, dug deep and supported each other. This has to be the best team performance to date from us and it was lovely to see, keep it up lads and be proud of yourselfs.
