1st quarter 3-3
Shevington Started the match with an early try after some Quick hands caught pilks asleep and their number 2 dove over in the corner, pilks did hit straight back when Hard drives from Ellis & Aiden set the platform for Jacob to walk over in the corner to level it up at 1-1 unfortunately Aiden picked up a leg nock in the build up and was forced off .
A quick return from shevington caught pilks napping again and number 13 strolled over for the first of his trys to regain the lead, (2-1)
pilks levelled the scores again when strong drives from logan & Ben Made big yards downfield and then some quick hands from Lewis sent Logan barging over. (2-2)
The sharks attacked down the left side yet again but both Dylan Greenall & Ethans strong defence force a knock on to regain the ball, quick play the balls from Dylan finney & Logan send Dylan Greenall at the line looking for gaps and gets pilks into a position for Ben to barge over and hit the front 3-2.
Shevington continued to target the left wing but three back to back ‘one on one’ tackles from Dylan Greenall forced them to shift it right where number 17 found a way through and scores (3-3)
Pilks end the quarter strong when another big drive from Ben gets near to the line then efforts from Ethan & Ellis are both held short but can’t find a way over.
2nd quarter 8-5
Recs start the second Quarter with yet another strong drive & offload from Ben but a knock on gives a turn over and hands shevington the ball who have some fancy footwork and 13 strolls over for another (4-3)
Pilks again hit straight back when an offload off the floor from Logan to Dylan Greenall enables him to scoot towards the line then an over the top pass from Lewis to Logan let’s him drop over line (4-4)
Pilks defence seemed to tire and shevington number 10 dragged nearly the full recs team downfield with him before a quick play where pilks fall off the tackle and allow an easy score (5-4)
keen to level the scores back up pilks start to throw the ball about but a stray ball finds shevington hands and number 1 flys away for an interception try, chased down all the way by Dylan Greenall (6-4)
Pilks dug deep and a Strong run from Dylan Greenall got the field position and Jacob managed to squeeze in at the corner to pull it back to 6-5,
The next set Jacob then backs up his try with some Good strong tackles in defence, some amazing footwork then from shevingtons number 1 weaves through and finds the try line (7-5)
Shevington then pulled out a great defensive set to stop 5 strong drives & quick play from pilks before another interception on the last tackle saw number 13 sprint to the line with all 9 recs players chasing him back (8-5)
Shevington look like widening the gap again just before half time but strong a defence Forces them in touch at line.
3rd quarter 9-7
Shevington started the second half running at a determined pilks defence where good defensive efforts and support in tackles from Emily, Zac & Josh stopped them advancing before a big hit by Logan finished off by Kieran then forces a knock on & Dylan sprints away downfield,
again we saw the floating Over the top pass from Lewis to Logan for a repeat of an earlier try and close the gap to 8-6.
Pilks continued with some Outstanding defence to force Shevington in touch at line again before the sharks pulled out some Good defence of their own to keep pilks out for a turnover.
The next set shevington put the ball through the hands and start pulling out some set plays to send number 13 over again, you could tell that their side have trained hard over the summer break. (9-6)
Pilks needed to regroup and a strong 1st drive down from Jacob and a quick play the ball to spread the play out to Dylan Greenall sent him flying in at the corner (9-7)
Pilks continued to build pressure through some Strong hit ups which force shevington to knock on, but a case of white line fever and a Poor finish to the set ended in a turnover.
4th quarter 11-8
The final quarter pilks attack with intent but another stray pass sends the sharks number 2 away for the 3rd full length interception try of the day (10-7)
Some confusion off the field resulted in shevington being given the ball back and attack the pilks line again but a Knock on over line results in pilks getting the ball back.
The game was in the balance and both sides lost their heads, Firstly a forward pass from Lewis on the 1st tackle handed the ball over and then a Knock on at the 1st tackle from shevington returned the ball to pilks.
A break in play then came when Aiden literally did lose his head when a high tackle took aiden off his feet.
Pilks attacking again and some strong Hand offs from Kieran gets them into a good attacking position but some scrappy defence from shevington is good enough to keep the recs out for a handover.
As shevington bring the ball out Dylan Greenall makes a top tackle and forces the player into touch.
Again some scrappy defence is good enough to keep pilks out and again force the turnover, this time the sharks put it through some hands, spread it wide and number 13 went over again (11-7)
Pilks dig deep again and end with a very strong and fast attacking set and Jacob barges through to make it 11-8.
The match was lost but pilks insisted on Finishing strong and a group effort forces shevington into touch at the final whistle.
Trophies.
Parents choice was joint this week with Dylan Greenall & Lewis Taylor.
Dylan Greenall, Dylan was awesome in defence this week, he put in some fantastic one on ones tackles. Dylan was on his own on the wing for a lot of defence and had lads a lot bigger than him running at him but he took these down with ease and made some awesome try savers. Scored a brilliant try and when he wasn’t scoring he made great meters down field for his team. Could of walked away with any trophy this week. Well done Dylan fantastic game!
Lewis Taylor, Lewis made some great tackles this week and a few brilliant round the legs one on ones. It was his attack that gained him this award as with his quick thinking he got some great offloads to his team and set up some brilliant tries. Lewis’ discipline is impressing the coaches this season so far as he’s working hard to channel his frustration. Well done Lewis brilliant game!
Tackler of the game went to Dylan Finney, Dylan gained this award as the coaches thought he put in some fantastic effort with his defence and tried his best to stop shevington gaining meters and it was this effort and support that the coaches noticed. Well done Dylan brilliant game!
Players player went to Aidan Houghton. Aidan started off having a brilliant game but then took a knock so had to come off for a while, he managed to come back on and got a nose bleed so came off, went back on again and put in some fantastic attack and defence. Aidan was running the ball up and took a very high shot but this didn’t keep him down he got back up and was more upset his head guard got broken. He carried on playing and put in a fantastic shift. They say it comes in threes but Even tho he was in the wars, took time off he still put in a man of the match performance. Well done Aidan brilliant game.
Man of the match went to Ben Looker, Ellis carsley & Logan Parr.
All these three lads put in some outstanding attack and making awesome meters for their team. These lads really did put in bags of work for their team and got them moving down field.
Ben looker gained his self a brilliant try with busting his way through the defence and over the line. Logan parr with awesome hands on the wing caught some greats balls and gained his self a hat trick this week.
Ellis carsley put in some brilliant defence for
His team this week.
All three lads really stood up this week with their roles and was a massive part in Pilks gaining the tries they did! Well done lads brilliant game!
Opposition man of the match went to Jacob Davies. They thought Jacob put in a fantastic shift in attack, making great meters for his team and gaining his self a hat trick. They thought Jacob ran with aggression and is an overall brilliant little player. Well done Jacob awesome game!
